Back in 1980, the average trucker pulled in around $39,000 a year—that’s the same as $147,000 in today’s dollars. Fast forward to now, and most drivers are making barely half that, averaging $72,000. In just five decades, the pay has been gutted while the workload hasn’t changed. The industry has squeezed wages, stripped away respect, and left drivers carrying the same burden for far less. If that’s not proof the system is broken, I don’t know what is.

I just wrapped up my mortgage application and wanted to get an idea of what I might qualify for. My target range is $100K–$150K since I’m planning to pick up around three homes over the next 10 years. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about my rehab business plan—it’s still in the works. I recently found out I could qualify for a mortgage using bank statements, which definitely changes the game 🫠.
