Follow up video about Carrot coming very soon. I think there's a very strong chance she's already aboard the ship and will emerge when we next see the Straw Hats.

1) Carrot's scene in chapter 1056 didn't offer any closure; She never formally accepted the position, nor did she look particularly happy. Though Inu & Neko feel the matter is a done deal, Carrot didn't seem to be particularly convinced, which ended the scene on an ambiguous or uncertain note, which would be a very odd choice if it was meant to conclude Carrot's character arc.

2) Carrot was reminded of Pedro's will... which had nothing to do with ruling Zou. He was born too late to join Roger and too early to join Luffy, but he wanted to sail with the Pirate King. The last time we saw Carrot, she was left thinking about 'Pedro...'

3) Carrot didn't get to say farewell to the Straw Hats, nor was she pictured anywhere in chapter 1057. Very strange indeed. Every other long-term traveling companion has gotten some type of send-off, even Johnny & Yosaku. Carrot spent a substantial amount of time with the crew, so parting ways without a word would be very out of place.

4) Carrot has stowed away before. Maybe this time she actually made her intentions known to Wanda and Shishilian. But if seeing the world qualifies her to lead Zou, then shouldn't she venture out to sea with Luffy?

5) The Mink prophecy still isn't fully understood and I imagine the answers can only be found on Laugh Tale.

As I said, video coming soon discussing the topic at length, but in the meantime, what do you think? Is Carrot aboard the ship or not?

Just had a thought - who was the first mate of the Rocks Pirates? We know Captain Rocks D. Xebec united a crew of powerful pirates who would go on to form their own crews including Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, Captain John, Golden Lion Shiki, Silver Axe, and Wang Zhi.

There's also some indication that other characters like Ms. Bakkin and Shakky could have some former association with Rocks.

Kaido was just an apprentice at the time which rules him out as the second in command. Whitebeard and Linlin had the most successful post-Rocks careers and we haven't yet seen some of the others Sengoku listed in chapter 957, but personally, I think Shakky would be the most interesting choice. This could perhaps be an interesting topic for a future video.

But who do you think was the first-mate of the Rocks Pirates? Whitebeard? Linlin? Shiki? Bakkin? Captain John? Shakky? Someone we haven't met yet (Wang Zhi / Silver Axe / etc.) I don't have enough poll options, so if I didn't list the option, be sure to leave a comment!

For those who haven't seen the news, Eiichiro Oda will be taking a 4 week break following chapter 1053 to plan 'the final saga' of One Piece. A very well-deserved break!

Chapter 1052 will be published this weekend and 1053 next week, before the series goes on a 4-week break. It will return at the end of July for chapter 1054.

As for this channel, don't worry! I have some very big videos planned for the break - including a One Piece Theory... of Everything! The True History of the One Piece world!

Chapter 1049 Review is a bit longer than normal, so it won't be finished until tomorrow. But what do you all, the Straw Hat... Jedi... Grand Fleet... Council ... think?
