--- I've started clipping because I wanted to bring attention to moments that might have been overlooked in the fandom. This has not changed, and that is still what I am going to be doing, but I will admit that it has become harder to keep the channel going with only that as my motivation. Due to the time I take to make clips, a lot of the times things that are worth clipping would be already clipped by other people (which is good for them and the community - we have a lot of good clippers nowadays), and I have no intention of stepping on other people's toes. That left me with a question: does my channel still have a place in the community?
Thanks to Raden and you, fellow viewers, I have a much clearer idea of what my channel should be like. Raden has shown me that there is no shame in yapping fervently about the nerdy things that she is passionate about, and you've shown me that there is an appetite for clips that are informative but take longer to make. So that is what I am going to be doing, and I am glad I can spread Raden's passion for nerdy things. (And other girls' too, of course.)
btw, do you guys think i should start caring about my channel's branding and all that? like outros, a better channel name, etc. tell me what you think

Now gather around, kids, old clipper channel guy here is gonna tell stories about the olden days. (I've been clipping for more than 2 years, I can say that about myself, yeah?)
I remember the first hololive clip I watched was probably Haachama barfing into her noodles, and to this day my mind can still replay the sound she made back then. Call it PTSD, because my life has never been the same since. Discovering that Marine was a hardcore fan of Touhou Project, an old fixation of mine, prodded me further into the rabbit hole (her nerdgasm while playing Touhou Spell Bubble is still great), but it was two clips that tipped me over the edge. One by @shabbysubz4993 about Marine's cathartic exit from her black company of a workplace and one by @cat-three about Korone watching helplessly during an incident in a train station that filled her with so much regret that she went to take first-aid classes. These showed me that Vtubers weren't just idols, comedians, or entertainers, these were real living people with real emotions and aspirations who are not afraid to be open about who they are. From there I fell deeper and started making clips myself starting with—who else—Marine and Korone, hoping to make lesser known moments more accessible like how I was inspired by those two clippers. (I didn't have any significant interactions with them, so I hope they won't be too annoyed by the ping—hope you're doing fine, btw)
And now, it's been more than two years since I started, and I've seen my share of clippers come and go. Big-name clippers who used to dominate the scene fade away for one reason or another, and new ones rise to take their places. Somehow, I'm still here doing my own thing, which is to try to clip things that tends to get overlooked. For how many English clippers we have, there are still many moments from hololive JP that haven't been clipped, especially if you compare them to Japanese clips or even Chinese and Korean clips of the JP girls. If you are looking for "correct" translations, by which I mean correct in Japanese comprehension and English composition (a minimum requirement, really), this comparative dearth of content is made even more evident. This means there's still so much that can be clipped, and I am heartened that there still seems to be an appetite for this kind of content even after so many years of hololive. Well, I'll still be doing the same thing (slowly), but thank you all for coming along for the ride!

Like many other clippers, I started clipping because I stumbled upon a poignant moment on a stream and found that nobody had clipped it, and it deserved to be shown to the world. In my case, it was Marine surprising Korone with a gift at the end of a stream so much that she cried. I'd like to think that this was the moment Korone changed from keeping a professional distance with Marine, and from then on we would be treated to a long string of MariKoro collabs, and Marine is to date still one of the closest Holomems with Korone (the closest being Okayu, of course.) However, people who depend on translations would miss these untranslated moments and would sometimes get the wrong idea about the talents because of some selectively translated clips. Because of this, I decided to learn how to make subtitles myself.
Luckily for me, the algorithmic gods of YouTube decided to smile upon my first two videos. This initial performance gave me the confidence and momentum to continue subbing as I find more things to clip and translate.
Gaining recognition as a clipper-translator is an odd feeling. Much of our work should be invisible since a good translation should be so natural that the viewer does not feel like reading a translation (so to speak). This is impossible, of course—there is no such thing as a one-to-one translation. It is thus the job of the translator to make the decision about what to keep and what to excise to keep the original meaning intact. This decision-making is what throws the translator into the spotlight: people notice the extremely well-crafted puns that just works, and on the other hand the typos and awkward phrases stick out like a sore thumb. I do not think of myself as a particularly good translator—I just hope to do no wrong. I have to remind myself that people don't come watching my clips because they want to watch me, but because they want to watch what the girls are doing. Still, 3000 subscribers is nothing to scoff at for a nobody clipper with a slow upload schedule, and for that I thank you.
