Welcome to joegardenerTV. My passion is organic gardening & growing food. I created this channel to teach you everything you need to know to grow like a pro - no experience required! In fact, I've been teaching people how to garden for over 15 years on TV as the host of 3 national gardening shows ( DIY Network & PBS). My current show - Emmy Award-winning Growing a Greener World is in its 9th season
But my real passion is in teaching people about organic gardening & how to be better, smarter gardeners through short how-to videos like these. No matter where you are in your gardening journey, from an experienced veteran or you're just getting started, if you'd like to grow like a pro, you've come to the right place. I'll be adding new videos every week.
Thanks for stopping by.
Joe Lamp'l (the "joe" behind joe gardener).

Live Q&A on my raised bed rebuild from December 16th! Watch the replay here - youtube.com/live/JGpvuQlIfkk
This Raised Bed Rebuild Q&A is where I answered the most common questions we’ve received by email, on YouTube, and on social media about how and why I built all new beds at the garden farm. I also answered questions that came in on the chat too.

A little behind-the-scenes look at what’s happening here at the GardenFarm™…
After 14 years, my iconic raised beds made of cedar have rotten and deteriorated. As of today, most of the beds have been removed, the soil relocated, and I'm working on preparing a clean slate to be ready for the rebuild later this week.
I’ve officially started taking the entire garden apart so I can have it rebuilt the right way with new materials and fresh, healthy soil.
I have a new video up now if you want to see why I’m starting over and what’s coming next.
Watch it and let me know what part of the rebuild you want to see more of.
It’s the start of a big transformation, and I’m bringing you along for every step. Lots more to come!
Watch the new video and tell me what you want to see most in the next phase of the rebuild. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ldBw...

For 13 years, my raised bed garden was practically deer-proof but not because of the fence height. It was actually because of the layout of my raised beds.
The beds were arranged in such a way to make jumping in confusing for deer.
Or so I thought.
Then one clever deer found the weak spot… and hopped right in. I watched from my office window as it grazed on the plants I’d worked so hard to grow.
That moment changed how I think about wildlife in the garden. Maybe the goal isn’t to keep them out — maybe it’s to learn how to coexist.
So next week, I’m hosting a live webinar with Nancy Lawson, The Humane Gardener, to talk all about: Who’s Been Nibbling in Your Garden? Coexisting with Deer & Other Mammals
📅 Wednesday, November 19th | 12:00–1:30 PM ET
💬 Live Q&A + 30-day replay access

If you’ve ever walked outside to find your plants chewed down overnight, this one’s for you. You’ll learn practical, humane ways to protect your garden and support the wildlife that belongs there too.

In case you missed it, I just uploaded a new video on how I plant spring-flowering bulbs in fall. 🌷
I’ve done this all around the GardenFarm™ (with Larrie’s help and supervision, of course), and come spring, the display is just incredible. It’s one of my favorite easy fall planting projects, especially when you’ve got the right tools for the job, which I cover in the video.
The first photo shows what my naturalized bulb lawn looks like in early spring, packed with daffodils and other colorful spring ephemerals that the early pollinators love.
Check out the full videos to see how it all comes together, and let me know if you’re planting bulbs this fall too!

I’ve read a lot of gardening and nature books over the years. Too many to count! 📚
This week, I shared the ones that have really stuck with me — 17 of my all-time favorites — but of course, I could only fit so many into one episode.
Take a look at the list, and then tell me… did I miss any? I’m sure there are a few glaring omissions you’d add to your own stack. I’d love to hear which ones you think should’ve made the cut.

Here’s a peek at just a few of the books that have crossed my desk while prepping for podcast guests over the years. It’s a good thing I love to read because this stack doesn’t even include the new ones on my nightstand!
And just in time for the cozy months, when we all hunker down and catch up on our reading, tomorrow’s podcast episode is all about the gardening and nature books that have made the biggest impact on me. Plus, I'll tell you what books are on my nightstand waiting to be read.
🎧 Tune in tomorrow to The joe gardener® Show on my YouTube channel or wherever you get your podcasts!

Fall might feel like the time to slow down, but it’s actually one of the best times to get ahead in the garden. In this week’s podcast, I’m sharing the 10 things I’m doing right now to make next spring easier — from managing weeds and saving native flower seeds to dividing perennials, planting bulbs, and protecting trees from rutting deer.
You’ll also hear about a few big projects I’ve got coming up at the GardenFarm™, including rebuilding my compost bins and raised bed garden.

Deer rut season is here 🦌 — and that means young trees are at risk. A simple, low-cost trunk guard can save them from serious bark damage.
👉 If you’ve planted new trees in the past few years, now is the time to act. Watch the full video here: joegardener.com/video/protect-trees-deer-rut/

Rose arbor update! After 11 months of growth, my New Dawn climbing roses have reached the top and I’ve added native perennials like milkweed, liatris, wild bergamot, and asters to attract pollinators. Prepping the compacted clay soil with @Soil3OrganicCompost made all the difference for healthy roots and thriving plants.
