April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

My heart goes out to all survivors out there, no matter how the incident went.



No matter if the abuser was male or female or anything else. You are valid. Don’t be ashamed of yourself.

No matter if you are male or female or anything else. You are valid. Don’t be ashamed of yourself.

No matter if it was only once, or if it was long while of abuse. You are valid. You’re strong for going through it all.

No matter if it was by a stranger, or a trusted person. You are valid. It is never your fault.

No matter if the abuser was your age at the time, or was much older. You are valid. If they were a child like you, you can be upset with them even though they are a victim too, because they still hurt you.

No matter if you cut contact with them, or if you remained together. You are valid, try to distance yourself with the help of someone else.

No matter if you have told someone, or if you remained silent. You are valid, tell someone you trust.

No matter if they pressured you into saying yes, or if you didn’t fight back. You are valid. It was only consensual if you were willing to do it on the first go.

No matter if you told them to stop but they kept going, or if they did it without asking and you liked it. You’re valid. They don’t have permission to do anything unless you make it clear you’re okay with it.

No matter if the abuser didn’t realise they were doing something wrong, or if they did it just to humiliate you. You’re valid. They should know better.

No matter if you still love the person that hurt you, or if you find it difficult to process what happened. You’re valid. It’s hard to let go and you’re allowed to take the time you need.

No matter if you can’t remember what happened, or if you feel like it was your fault. You’re valid. Whatever happened wasn’t your fault at all.

If your trauma doesn’t have enough representation, know that you deserve to be seen.
