“If I Stop Charity Today, I’ll Buy Houses Every Month” — Bishop David Ibiyeomie

Bishop David Ibiyeomie has revealed the extent to which he prioritises giving and caring for people who may never be able to repay him.

Speaking about his approach to wealth, the bishop explained that he does not see his resources as something meant solely for his personal comfort.

“I don't use 5% of my money for myself. What is even 5%? I don't use 1% of my money for myself.”

He went further, saying that if he stopped giving to charity, he could afford to acquire houses regularly.

But perhaps the most striking part of his statement was not about houses or money.

It was about the people he chooses to help.

“I train children I don't have anything to do with. I don't know their background. I don't know where they come from.”

He also spoke about elderly people who have no children to care for them, explaining that many of them are on his payroll.

This raises a deeper question about wealth:

What is the purpose of having more than enough if nobody else's life becomes better because you have it?

For Bishop Ibiyeomie, wealth appears to be more than personal comfort. It is also a responsibility to become a blessing to people who may never have the ability to give anything back.

Sometimes the greatest evidence of what we have received is not what we keep…

but what we are willing to give away.
