Will Alex Murdaugh get a new fair trial and if so, will he get the murder charge dissolved although he still has pleaded guilty to 22 state financial crime charges (such as fraud, money laundering and breach of trust) and was **sentenced to 27 years in state prison for those offenses. Under South Carolina law he must serve at least 85 % of that sentence (about 23 years) before becoming eligible for parole on those counts.
