Greetings! My name is Xakarus and I'm a planetary physicist and science-fiction fan who loves delving deep into the lore of planets from popular sci-fi to find what they got right and what they got wrong. I also help science-fiction authors and world-builders create realistic planetary systems for their fictitious universes.

Happy May The Fourth, planet-crafters!
I intended to post a new Planetary Anomaly video for Star Wars Day, but sadly, it has been delayed because (a. I started on it too late, and (b. I was a dumbass and initially confused the planet's diameter with its radius, resulting in me having to go back and heavily edit my script midway through production.
It should be up within a day or two. In the meantime, may the Force be with you!

Happy Alien Day, everyone! In celebration, I'm watching Alien, Aliens, and Alien3. Are you doing anything to celebrate? And, what's your favorite movie to feature the xenomorph?

Is seems rather fitting that I'm looking out the window at a snowstorm while writing the script for an Andoria video. Needless to say, I'm feeling it.

In celebration of passing 2000 subs, I want to have you, my wonderful community, help me choose the planet (or moon) that I analyze next. The choices are between the terrestrial planet Reach from the Halo series of games, the tidally-locked terrestrial planet Janus from the speculative biology documentary Alien Worlds, the jovian planet Jool from the Kerbal Space Program games, and the jovian moon Andoria from the Star Trek universe. This poll will close Monday 23 Dec 2024 at 00:00 GMT. You are welcome to suggest planets for future videos in the comments, but the next video will feature one of the four worlds listed here.

Hello? Is this thing on? Am I able to make community posts? It used to be that one had to have over 500 subs to access the community features. Have the YouTube overlords changed that policy?
