Tonight, theaters across the US will begin showings of Shelby Oaks, the movie completing the tale of the Paranormal Paranoids, an unfiction series I covered years ago.
In the process, a YouTube movie reviewer who started with pure passion and a love of film and horror will be recognized as a feature film writer and director, and a major theatrical release backed by Kickstarter supporters will be the Halloween movie of 2025.
Shelby Oaks isn't just another found footage horror--it is one of the greatest declarations in our field that truly, there is no gate.
I was thrilled to cover Paranormal Paranoids when it was a new experience online, overjoyed when I heard the news Chris Stuckmann was getting to make a film of its story, and proud to be a backer to the Kickstarter.
An unfiction project is now a major motion film, by someone who's been dreaming of this day since they were a teenager daring to put themselves online and defying societal pressures to stay boxed into one way of living.
