MOVIE REVIEW: TOY STORY 5
After nearly 31 years, Toy Story continues to prove why it remains one of Pixar's most beloved franchises.
What surprised me most about Toy Story 5 is that it doesn't rely solely on nostalgia. Instead, it tackles a modern issue that many families can relate to today: the growing influence of technology on children and the fear of being left behind.
The conflict between traditional toys and digital devices serves as the film's central theme, but Pixar wisely avoids turning the story into a simple "toys versus technology" narrative. Rather, the film explores how both can coexist and how childhood itself continues to evolve with every generation.
Visually, the film is stunning. Pixar's animation has never looked better, with impressive lighting, detailed textures, and beautifully crafted emotional moments. The humor remains entertaining throughout, while several scenes carry an emotional weight that longtime fans of the franchise will undoubtedly appreciate.
One of the film's greatest strengths is its ability to speak to two audiences at once. Children will enjoy the adventure, comedy, and colorful characters, while adults who grew up with Woody and Buzz may find themselves reflecting on their own childhood memories.
Vietnamese Dub Review.
The Vietnamese dub by Đạt Phi Media is another strong addition to Pixar's impressive dubbing history in Vietnam.
Trần Tuấn delivers a warm and heartfelt performance as Woody, capturing both the character's wisdom and emotional vulnerability. Hòa Bình continues to embody Buzz Lightyear's heroic spirit with confidence and energy, while Cẩn Huyên brings plenty of personality and emotion to Jessie.
Among the newer characters, Thùy Trinh leaves a positive impression as Lilypad with a gentle and expressive performance. Quỳnh Thư also does a solid job as Bonnie, helping maintain the character's innocence and authenticity.
The supporting cast contributes well to the overall experience, and the Vietnamese adaptation feels natural without losing the original spirit of the film.
If I had to choose, I would still recommend the original version for its outstanding voice performances and emotional impact. However, the Vietnamese dub is absolutely worth watching and offers a fun, engaging experience for audiences of all ages.
Movie Rating: 10/10
Toy Story 5 is more than just another sequel. It is a thoughtful reflection on change, growing up, and learning that moving forward doesn't mean leaving the past behind.
Toy Story 5, now showing in cinemas.
