okay now that it's 2026, it's time to get SERIOUS.
well, as serious as a megadrivemidori post can get.

i already announced this in my discord and i sorta alluded to it in a previous community post, but for this year, i wanna start moving away from making vocaloid covers of OTHER PEOPLE'S FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' LYRICAL COVERS and start making vocaloid covers of MY OWN FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' LYRICAL COVERS.

so i plan on starting a new series called "FNF if it was a Vocaloid Song" (inspired by ItsJustFroggy's "SILLY BILLY but a VOCALOID Song" video)

basically the same concept as i've been doing for the past year+ but i write the lyrics myself instead of using other people's lyrics. i just get more enjoyment when it's my own writing :D

the thriller gen encore miku cover was sorta the first video i did this with and i really enjoyed doing it so i wanted to start being more ORIGINAL!!!
i've already got a bunch in the works, for example:

an ode to a friend (ft. hatsune miku and megurine luka)
fatality (ft. utane uta)
trichael (ft. kasane teto)
self-paced (ft. adachi rei, hatsune miku, and others)

though these are all still in the writing stage (an ode to a friend is the only one currently fully written aside from some revising so far)
out of all of these you'll probably see fatality or trichael first since i have more ambitious ideas for the visuals of aotaf and self-paced

but yeah. basically i still wanna force vocaloids to sing friday night funkin songs with lyrics, i just want them to be MY LYRICS!!!

that doesn't mean i'll stop covering other people's lyrics, but if i'm interested in a song enough to write my own lyrics for it then i'd rather do that. for example, for miku's madness specifically, there's a lot of songs that i DONT wanna write lyrics for since i like the song enough to consider covering it but not enough to write lyrics for it and rather just use someone else's. i've got a bunch of fnf vocaloid covers in the backlog and i dont plan on scrappin em but i might shelve them to focus on more original writing

i might also repurpose some unfinished fnf lyrical covers i've written but have barely done anything with (such as subterfuge and silly billy) with this.
that'll just be my gimmick i suppose lol.

as for what else i'll be doing in 2026? well...

i have SOME collaborations lined up in the future. one of them is pretty SINISTER. the other... well, shucks, I don't wanna spoil that one yet! (okay this is obviously about teto shucks v2)

i also will probably just write standard fnf lyrical covers (i'm writing a trinity encore with lyrics and sorta writing all-stars lyrics, though I may repurpose them for all-stars miku mix)

i do also wanna do more vocaloid english covers, just depends if i like a song enough and there isn't an english cover i consider way better than anything i could ever write

(this is a huge reason why i'm demotivated to write lyrics for any song, fnf or vocaloid or jpop or whatever, just cuz i don't think it's worth writing if someone already did it and did it way better. thats sorta why im doin the whole "fnf but vocaloid" gimmick so i can start with something slightly fresh)

lowkey i have not touched the monitoring english cover in a good bit but i do want to finish that up alongside a remastered version of the best friend remix english cover. i'm excited yet cautiously optimistic for miku v6 as I've been hesitant to really do anything with miku before her new voicebank releases (and i hope it's good. if not. i will be so sad.)
alongside that i wanna finish that igaku cover. the cat loving english cover is also basically done aside some lyric revising and polish

but tl;dr expect a lotta miku outta this channel as always. but also i wanna be more original with my stuff. it gets sorta boring making teto sing the same lyrics somebody else did.

also i got 200 dollars in christmas money and a target gift card with an unspecified amount on it and i have no idea what to spend that on. do i buy more voicebanks.
i've been wanting to buy the cryptonloids but i wanna wait til they get v6 voicebanks (well, i already got rin and len. so. darn.) even though they might not sound good. i think they'll mess up luka and meiko but kaito might survive.
