Some awards carry a little extra weight. Not because of the trophy but because of the moment.

At the Global Business Conclave in Chennai, I was humbled to receive the Entrepreneur of the Year – Excellence in Financial Services award.

What made it truly unforgettable was receiving it from a lifelong inspiration, the legendary @jontyrhodes8 .

I was always the one who loved fielding more than batting. My friends would tease me, saying I cared more about diving around than scoring runs. And they were probably right. Watching Jonty, the way he moved, the way he threw himself into every ball, left a lasting impression.

Like many, I still remember that 1992 World Cup run-out of Inzamam-ul-Haq at the Gabba. It wasn’t just a brilliant play. It was a mindset. One that quietly stayed with me all these years.

I also vividly remember his final ODI on February 12, 2003. It was a World Cup match between South Africa and Kenya. Jonty got injured while diving to take a catch off Maurice Odumbe and had to leave the field retired hurt. At the time I remember thinking, why take such a big risk? In my mind Kenya wasn’t a top tier opponent and the match didn’t feel like it demanded that level of effort. But later I realised that for Jonty it was never about the opponent or the stage. That dive, like every other, came from the same place — total commitment. That moment redefined what effort meant to me.

So to stand next to him, shake his hand, receive an award from him, and even get a bat signed by him was truly a full-circle moment.

I’ve never measured success in awards but this one will always stay close to the heart.

When ‪@siddahmed‬ walks into a room, the energy shifts.

Last week, that energy lit up every corner of ‪@ippopay‬

What was planned as a guest visit quickly turned into something much deeper. It felt like a homecoming. Sidd didn’t just speak to our team, he truly connected. With empathy, clarity, and an unmistakable personal touch, he made every interaction meaningful. He listened, asked questions, remembered names, and made people feel seen.

That’s what makes Sidd an extraordinary entrepreneur. Not just his achievements, but his ability to lift others as he climbs.

We spoke about his journey, the grit behind the milestones, and the values that shaped him. And in that conversation, I saw so many reflections of my own path. Two small-town boys from Tamil Nadu, shaped by humble beginnings, obsessed with fitness, and driven by a desire to build something lasting from Tamil Nadu.

Sidd is building for the world. I’m building deeper into Tamil Nadu. Different directions, but the same fire.

Thank you, brother, for the time, the wisdom, and the warmth. The IppoPay team is deeply grateful.

Turns out the secret to work-life balance is… cricket!
Ditched the laptop, laced up, and swapped spreadsheets for sixes (okay, mostly gentle swings 😅).

Fresh air, good company, and a few laughs on the field are an instant mood booster. Highly, highly recommend!!
