The U.S. Capitol is a neoclassical landmark based on Greek and Roman architecture. It is an architecturally complex building, and our studio was the first to create a 1:87 scale model of the U.S. Capitol. The overall dimensions of the model are 118x118 inches.
The construction of the U.S. Capitol began in 1793 and was “completed” several times. The original building was finished in 1826. The growth of Congress necessitated its expansion in the mid-19th century; the additions and the new dome were completed in 1868.
The model consists of two parts:
1) The surrounding grounds and entrance area. 2)The building itself and the Rotunda — a round architectural structure surrounded by columns and crowned with a dome.
The Rotunda was completed under the direction of Charles Bulfinch in 1824. Designed during the neoclassical era, it was intended to evoke the ancient Roman Pantheon. Bulfinch created a grand composition of architecture, sculpture, and painting in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. That’s why this part deserves special attention in our model as well.
One of areas our studio specializes in is the creating of realistic models of insects for museum exhibitions. Before the modeling stage, a high-precision 3D model is created using an X-ray microtomograph. This device allows to obtain an accurate three-dimensional model of the insect being studied. Then specialists from the Minibricks visualisation department refine the received data, giving the future exhibit the required position
The model measures 1.74x1.5 metres (68.5x59 inch). It was created as part of a collaboration with an overseas museum. This is an exact replica of one of the tourist spots at Lake Tahoe, at a scale of 1:87.
The model combines a picturesque landscape with numerous pines, a large water surface, and highly detailed infrastructure objects. The trees were created using our unique technology, which allows for the volume and colour of the canopies to be depicted as realistically as possible. To simulate the lake, epoxy resin was poured in several layers and then processed with hand tools to create ripples on the water.
