For those of you that don't follow me on Instagram, I thought you might be interested in this post I shared recently.

For the last year, I've been decolonising my email signature by swapping the usual English-language email sign offs with Irish language ones in varying levels of seriousness. (Meanings below!)

My most used is "Le Meas", which means "with respect". My actual favourite is "Lean ort" which basically means "go on" and is a VERY informal encouragement in speech, but I haven't had the balls to use that one in an email yet. I am also a fan of "Tóg go bog é", which means "take it easy", but I don't send enough casual emails to have gotten massive use out of that one either.

And yes - I do use these ALL the time. Even when emailing people I know are based in the US or the UK (so I KNOW they do not speak Irish). For me, these little acts of decolonisation need to be unapologetic!

Since I posted this, a few people suggested "Bígí deas" which means "Be good" and I've started to add that into my rotation. Any other suggestions? 💬

Meanings:
Le Meas = With Respect
Míle Buíochas = A Million thanks
Go n-eirí leat = May you succeed (good luck)
GRMA (Short for "Go Raibh Mile Maith Agat) = Thanks a million
Síocháin = Peace ✌🏻
Lean Ort = Go on (encouraging)
Slán Slán = Bye Bye
Tóg Go Bog é = Take it easy

In other news, the Valentine's Day & St. Brigid merch drop is up on my website now: clisare.rocks/brigid-drop

Introducing "Gaeilge Gear"! ☘️

While I've been on maternity leave, I've been designing loads of Irish language merch, which I'm calling 'Gaeilge Gear'. My FAVOURITE thing I've designed so far is this sterling silver "Fáinne"-inspired necklace. ⤵

If you don't know, The 'Fáinne' is a circular pin badge generally recognised in Ireland, which indicates a level of fluency and a willingness to speak Irish with others. I keep losing my badges, so my idea is to have a necklace instead that you can wear all the time! ☘️ It's inscribed with "Labhair Liom" which means "Speak to me" in Irish!

Pre-orders close soon and it's a once-off run, so grab yours now if you want one!
