It's going to be a long story, if you're tied up on time-
𝗜𝗻 𝗮 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹: I decided not to join any IT Firm. Instead, I decided to work in the creative field where I led the creative execution of brands like Flipkart, Nykaa Man, Akudo and more. Later on, I got into Web3 and now, I work for a Silicon Valley web3 company called as Decentology, right from my home, here in Goa. My passion for fitness is still intact. I competed in my first bodybuilding show in Dec, 2021. I still try out new things every single day and live a life of gratitude.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: (get a drink, maybe)
I graduated from KIIT University in 2021 with a 9 CGPA. Looking back, I realize that the lessons I learnt away from the lecture halls were way more vital than the ones taught inside.
This video (A day in my life at KIIT University), quite literally changed the course of my career. I got more and more interested in the creative field of filmmaking, design, VFX etc. During my 4th year at KIIT, like everybody else, I was preparing for the placements. But just before the placement season began, I got an offer from a Creative Digital Agency called Monk Entertainment (co-founded by the YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps).
I still sat for the interview by a few IT companies. And guess what, I did manage to the offers. But deep down, I was clear what I had to do. So now, I had to choose between IT and a Creative Field.
For some context, I did enjoy coding and solving problems. By the end of 4th year, my team and I managed to publish 2 thesis papers about AI and Machine Learning in scientific conferences like ICICT. Overall, I did well in academic subjects like DSA, Dynamic Programming etc. But on the other hand, I was extremely passionate about making videos and using my creative gifts. Let there be any amount of work, it always felt like play to me.
So, I decided to go ahead with Monk Entertainment. It was an industry so different. Almost everybody loved their job here. And I was no different. It was an immense amount of learning and realization. Within a span of 4 months, I was leading the visual aspect of brands like Flipkart, Nykaa Man and more. Worked with many public figures, led creative campaigns, made Ad Films and much more. It was like a playground where I could try my hands at everything that interests me. Monk Entertainment formed a solid foundation for me to build upon.
As an Engineer turned creative, my interest in the Tech always remained. I was fascinated by this new emerging field of Web3 and Blockchain. I used to watch, read and research a lot about the new happenings in this field. Soon enough, I created an opportunity for myself to work with the largest web3 company in India - Polygon ($MATIC, if you know). About a month later, I received a full-time offer from another Silicon Valley web3 company called - Decentology.
So, after 1 year and 7 months of working at Monk Entertainment, I decided to switch to Design-Tech (A merger of the two fields that interests me). I joined Decentology full-time as a Motion Designer in February 2022. Again, it has been an immense learning experience. I get to speak to such diverse people and work on things that are going to impact the lives of millions of people in the coming future.
I still stay at my hometown in Goa and enjoy the US-based perks and compensation. I am grateful to my younger self for always trying out new things. Also, my passion for fitness is still intact. My 2-hour gym session every single day is always a highlight for the day. Infact, I competed in my first ever bodybuilding competition in Dec, 2021. I managed to place 6th, state level!
Our society has laid out a well defined path. Most people never bother to look around and realize that there are countless other paths leading to a better fulfilled life. As Naval Ravikant says it, being curious is one of the highest superpowers one can have. Keep learning new things and dare to be different. All you need is the mentality of a warrior. Overcome obstacles and keep moving forward. Be unstoppable. And never forget to be grateful.
