Relaxing Watercolor
Hello my dear creative friends! ๐ฟ
First, I want to thank everyone who continues to watch my videos and subscribe. It means the world to me. I know my channel has been quiet lately, and I want to be completely honest with you about why.
As some of you know, I live in Kyiv, Ukraine. Unfortunately, the situation here remains incredibly difficult, and the terrifying, constant shelling takes away almost all of my emotional and physical energy. Between my regular job, seeking safety, and navigating this daily reality, it has been very hard to find the peaceful state of mind that botanical watercolor requires. Behind these silent, aesthetic videos is a real person going through very real struggles.
But I am not giving up, and I want to share what gives me strength right now. I had big plans for this summer, and I planted a mini flower garden in an old wooden crate on my balcony. I mixed over 10 different seed packets, and they are already starting to bloom! It brings me so much joy, and my dream is to soon use these homegrown flowers for new sketchbook spreads and videos for you. Also, amidst everything, I recently managed to complete a painting of a Ribwort Plantain (Plantago lanceolata) for the Association of Botanical Artists. Art remains my safe haven.
I am deeply grateful to all of you. If my art brings you a moment of peace, and you would like to support my channel to help me navigate these challenging times, you can treat me to a coffee here:

Or, if you would like to bring a piece of my art into your home, you can visit my Etsy shop:yuliiamysenko.etsy.com/. It deeply inspires me when my paintings find new homes around the world, and your support helps me more than words can say.
I am not abandoning this channelโI am just taking a little time to preserve my strength...
I am not abandoning this channelโI am just taking a little time to preserve my strength. I will return to my brushes and camera as soon as I can.
With love and gratitude from Kyiv,

Relaxing Watercolor
Hi everyone! โจ I thought I'd share a little bit of my day behind the scenes.
My morning started with an academic drawing lesson. I showed my teacher the sketches I did during the week and received a lot of new homework for the next class. โ๏ธ
Then, after lunch, my friend and I went to the botanical garden for some inspiration, amazing floral scents, and to collect new references for my future paintings. ๐ธ
I have a quick question for you: is it interesting for you to see my progress in academic drawing here? Should I continue sharing these behind-the-scenes moments, or would you prefer I only post announcements for new videos? Please leave a like or a comment so I know what you like best!
Wishing you all a wonderful week! ๐ฟ

Happy Motherโs Day to all the wonderful moms in our creative community! ๐ธ
Today, my mom sent me these beautiful photos from her garden. We haven't seen each other since last autumn, as we live in different countries now, so these simple pictures of flowers are like a bridge between us. Itโs a touching reminder that nature can keep us connected no matter how many miles are between us. ๐ค
I hope your day is filled with peace, love, and the beauty of nature. What flower reminds you of home and your mom? Share with me in the comments! ๐

Today I want to share a little personal story with you. ๐ฟ
I first got the chance to try these amazing Michael Harding watercolors thanks to my dear friend. Thank you so muchโI know you will read this post, and I am so deeply grateful to you for that wonderful opportunity! โค๏ธ
I was absolutely blown away by these paints. They are incredibly highly pigmented and so finely milled that they lay down on paper absolutely flawlessly. I fell in love instantly.
So, a few weeks ago, I finally decided to treat myself and spend the birthday money I received back in November to buy these precious tubes. โจ
I filmed the whole aesthetic process of unboxing and swatching these colors for you. Itโs pure, relaxing ASMR. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed filming it! ๐จ

Relaxing Watercolor
Hi everyone! ๐ฟ I decided to take a little break and chat with you today.
My morning started with an academic drawing practice. โ๏ธ I worked on shading a cup and a little still life with a pear and a tomato. Building volume and understanding light is such a challenging but incredibly rewarding process! And to relax my hand afterward, I did a quick sketch of my old boots in my sketchbook. ๐ฅพ I am still completely in love with drawing directly with a simple ballpoint penโno erasers, just pure freedom. ๐๏ธ
My fluffy art director, Masyanya, was carefully monitoring the whole process from behind the easel, as always. ๐
Later, I went for a walk because the weather outside is simply wonderful. And guess what? I found the very first snowdrops! ๐ค Spring is a time of miracles and inspiration. As everything around slowly begins to breathe, I just want to take a deep breath and breathe it all in. โจ It brings so much fresh energy to create.
I know my new videos take a little bit of time to come out, but I am working on them and preparing something beautiful for you. ๐จ I also want to say how incredibly grateful I am to all my subscribers for being with me, and I am so happy to welcome all my new viewers! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. โค๏ธ
I also had an idea: would you be interested in a silent live stream? There won't be any talking, just the relaxing process of me sketching a flower with a ballpoint pen from a reference. You could grab your sketchbooks and we could draw together in real-time! Let me know what you think. ๐๏ธ๐ธ
How is your week going? Have you spotted any spring flowers where you live yet? Share in the comments! ๐

Hi everyone! ๐ธ I caught myself thinking: do you enjoy peeking behind the scenes of my channel sometimes?
While I'm getting ready to film the final part of my sketchbook spread, I decided to take a little break and chat with you. Today I had an academic drawing lesson. My new subjects are a tomato and a pear! ๐ ๐ Oh, the construction process... measuring and re-measuring a million times just to get the proportions right!
But to relax a bit, we did a few quick sketches. And you know what? I am completely in love with drawing with a simple ballpoint pen! No pencil underdrawings, no erasersโjust pure freedom. I really enjoy this process so much. ๐๏ธ
And also... spring is finally here! The birds are already singing, and I can't wait for the fresh greenery. In our unpredictable world, it's these simple things that bring so much inspiration and energy to create. โจ
How is your spring mood? Have you ever tried sketching directly with a pen? ๐

Relaxing Watercolor
Today my morning started with a 2-hour academic drawing class. โ๏ธโ๏ธ I'm currently taking these lessons once a week with a very lovely girl. She recently started grad school, she's a sculptor, and I think she's simply a genius at it! Inspired by our lesson, I even managed to do a bit of sketching.
And in the evening, when the power was already cut off (just a reminder, I live in Kyiv, and power outages are our reality), I sat down to do some crafts. To be honest, a real moment of happiness happened for us recently โ the electric transport started running in the city again! ๐ Specifically, my favorite trams. They hadn't been working for almost 2 months, and it was so hard to get to work. By tram, my commute is just 15 minutes without traffic, but without them, the trip took up to an hour and a half.
In the evening, in the dim light, I did some crocheting and finished my experiment โ I've never crocheted lace onto a towel before! ๐งถ I usually only made doilies. My experience in crocheting isn't huge, but I love it so much, and I truly rest during this process.
This year I wanted to do a few cozy projects for my home. I bought a table runner for the New Year made of regular cotton canvas, and now I want to decorate its edges with lace, and maybe I'll come up with something else. And I also really want to crochet a pillowcase! ๐ธ๐ฟ
The thing is, I want to put it on the chair where I sit and paint my botanicals. I fell in love with one incredibly beautiful pillow (I attached a photo of it!), but so far I haven't had much luck finding the exact pattern for it. I found one on Pinterest, tried to crochet using it โ but the pattern didn't match the picture at all! A total "expectation vs. reality" moment ๐
Maybe some of you have crocheted one like this or know where to find the right pattern? I would be so grateful for any tips! ๐ชก
And how is your weekend going? What do you like to do in your free time away from work? Share in the comments! ๐

It feels like spring is already outside the window โ just the way we all love it when nature awakens! I absolutely adore spending a lot of time outdoors right now, soaking in this beautiful spring mood. โ๏ธ๐ฑ
How did you like the second part with the orchid leaves and roots? Have you had a chance to watch it yet? ๐ฟโจ
Orchid Sketchbook Studies ๐ฟ: www.youtube.com/playlist?list...
My orchid is already in full bloom! Part 3 is definitely coming soon. Life sometimes makes adjustments to our schedules, so the final video will be out a little bit later. I want to take my time and catch the perfect inspiration to paint these beautiful flowers. ๐ธ
In the meantime, if anyone hasn't seen the first two parts yet, I would be so happy if you checked them out! The final part is coming soon, and we will finish this sketchbook spread together. Thank you for being with me! ๐๐จ
