WanaUbuntu (Afrikans/Black People) have been in the stupor of colonial education for too long.
It is time we reclaim our narrative and embrace our Afrocentrism.
Kumbukeni's goal is to take back Our Sovereignty as WanaUbuntu by reclaiming our narrative; to define ourselves not as submissive and inferior to others but as mighty people who are capable, and deserving of life & prosperity.
We aim to do so through conversations with members of the Global WanaUbuntu community, and others who support the sovereignty and liberation of WanaUbuntu.
Kumbukeni-Reclaiming Our Narrative
Reading ‘Sacred Woman’ by Queen Afua and there’s a lot of self-reflection going on.
I’d like to hear from my fellow WanaUbuntu as to one question that Queen Afua asks.
A sister tells her that she’s always been the person who carried all the weight for everybody and did everything, so when she takes time to meditate she feels guilty. Keep in mind that her husband encourages her to take time for herself.
Queen Afua says to her, “That’s a mother syndrome. We have a problem with the mother syndrome. We overdo the mother…”
She then asks her which I invite my fellow WanaUbuntu to share your thoughts on.
“Don’t you think that mothers are entitled to be served, too?”
Please share the ways you’re serving the Mothers in your life.
Asanteni
