Sorry about the issues with today's livestream.
I'll try to choose more topics that you'll enjoy and that will lead to more discussion.
I'll use today's experience to make next Wednesday's livestream even better.

By the way, which option is more comfortable for you?

LunaPienArt - Japanese Translator

I received a question asking whether there could be a connection because "parrot" is sometimes written as **omu** in Japanese.

From a native Japanese perspective, though, that feels a bit off.

イム → Imu

オウム (Parrot) → not "omu", but "ōmu (oumu)".

So this particular wordplay feels a little forced.

That said, we've talked about the connection between parrots and Joy Boy before.

I also have a new theory I'm currently working on, so I'd love to share it with you in a future video!

I’ve read the latest chapter of One Piece, but I wasn’t in a position to make a video today, so my Chapter 1186 video will be released sometime after 6:00 PM Japan time on the 29th.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience!

Up to this point, I’ve tried to be sincere in what I do when it comes to explaining Japanese, and I haven’t twisted explanations in ways that conveniently support my own theories. I’m simply sharing and explaining things from the perspective of a native speaker. And like this person says, yes, some of my theories do miss the mark—but recently, a lot of the things we discussed have actually been confirmed in the story.

At the same time, part of why I do this is because I want to create a place where people around the world can read One Piece more deeply through the perspective of a Japanese speaker, and because I want to connect with people around the world through One Piece itself. If the day ever comes when a lot of people genuinely find Dawn & Dusk and LunaPienArt unpleasant, then I’m fully prepared to stop doing all of this.

I’m not willing to keep going by lying to myself.

I’ll continue doing everything I can to bring all of you meaningful themes and worthwhile analysis.

So there’s one thing I want to say to all of you.

To borrow Whitebeard’s words:

“You decide what to believe”

LunaPienArt - Japanese Translator

Every week, I write articles comparing the Japanese WSJ version of One Piece with the Manga Plus version, and honestly, there are always clear differences in nuance between the original and the translation.

What really surprised me, especially, is that right now, the mainstream idea in the community seems to be that “zaza” is connected to Dragon.

If you actually look it up in a Japanese dictionary or ask AI using keywords like “zaza onomatopoeia Japanese,” one of the meanings that comes up is “the sound of grass rubbing together in the wind.” But personally, I’ve never seen “zaza” used to describe the sound of grass rustling in the wind, and I don’t really see that kind of scene in manga either. Something like “saaa…” would feel more likely.

That said, I don’t think there’s any real value in arguing over which interpretation is “correct.”

Even if “zaza” has nothing to do with Dragon, if there’s a huge part of the community connecting it to Dragon and enjoying the story through that framework, then I think that’s one of the values of manga too.

That’s exactly why, even if my perspective as someone reading the Japanese version and speaking from a native Japanese point of view isn’t accepted by everyone, as long as the nakama of LunaPienArt enjoy it, I want to keep sharing these details as much as I can.

In today’s world, we basically live in an environment where information is available to everyone equally.

But at the same time, you could also say that this is the beginning of homogenization.

Information that anyone can get will lose its value.

And even the answers to questions where the “correct answer” can be found easily will gradually lose their value too.

In that sense, I think manga — especially ongoing serialized manga that hasn’t reached its conclusion yet — will become even more valuable than before when it creates discussion through predictions about future developments and unique interpretations of the mysteries that have been presented.

I would be happy if LunaPienArt and Dawn Dusk could become that kind of place.

Thank you as always.

I’ve actually never asked people to subscribe in my videos, so it really means a lot that so many of you have subscribed anyway.

If you happen to be the one who takes it to 30,000, let me know! 🏴‍☠️
