Imagine being born into a society where Black people were denied basic opportunities—yet becoming one of the most successful businessmen in America.

Micheal “M.C.” Williams rose from humble beginnings and became a major figure in the railroad industry, building wealth at a time when opportunities for Black Americans were severely restricted.

His story is a reminder that Black economic history is much deeper than the stories most people learn in school.

Black entrepreneurs, engineers, inventors, landowners, and business leaders were building institutions, creating jobs, acquiring property, and challenging economic barriers.

And some of their stories are barely discussed today.

The question is: Why aren't more of these stories taught?

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo tradition preserves ancient texts including 1 Enoch and Jubilees, along with other books that are not part of most Protestant Bibles.

But why were these texts preserved in Ethiopia? What do they actually say? And why are they rarely discussed in mainstream Christian conversations?

We come from people who survived slavery, colonialism, discrimination, and generations of attempts to break our spirit. Yet we are still here—creating, building, achieving, loving, and rising.

So when the world tries to make you feel powerless, remember your history. When people doubt you, remember what your ancestors overcame. And when life gets difficult, remember that you come from people who refused to disappear.

Our future must be built with confidence, knowledge, unity, and purpose. We do not need to hate anyone to love ourselves. We need to know who we are, support one another, build together, and teach the next generation that Blackness is not a weakness—it is a legacy of resilience and possibility.

I pray that every Black man, woman, and child is protected wherever the day leads. May every encounter be met with respect instead of prejudice, understanding instead of hatred, and fairness instead of injustice.
