I've just heard about the sudden death of fellow YouTuber Adam the Woo. I found it to be a shock because he's really not that old and he had put up his final video just a few days ago. I used to watch his videos and I've generally enjoyed them, although I did stop watching them when he focused way too much on the Disney theme parks.
When I was doing research for my own documentary, Saving the Enchanted Forest, ten years ago I found his video footage from the time that he illegally visited the now-defunct fairy tale theme park in Ellicott City, Maryland known as the Enchanted Forest. I even included an excerpt from his video with full credit in my own documentary. That video made its debut at the 2015 Artomatic festival in Hyattsville, Maryland and I generally received good reviews for it. You can view my documentary at the link below. In case you're curious, Adam the Woo's footage starts at the 19:45 mark.
And, by the way, with the holidays coming up, if you need something to watch while you're home, my documentary is very family friendly for all ages.
After going through a horrible year I decided to buy a bunch of blind boxes from Pop Mart and Baby Three for both my birthday and Christmas. Since my birthday in on December 15 and Christmas is on December 25 I had to buy a bunch of boxes. I held a drawing to decide which blind box I will open on my birthday and which ones I will open on Christmas. #popmart#babythree#labubu#molly#twinkletwinkle
As a Thanksgiving Day treat, here is my sequel to my previous horror movie trailer parody, The Night of the Living Labubus, called The Night of the Living Labubus Part 2: The Battle Agsinst the Starbucks Bear Cups.
A few months ago I did my horror movie trailer parody, The Night of the Living Labubus. I've just finished the follow-up to that video just in time for Thanksgiving Day and I'm going to roll it out in a few hours. In the meantime, feast your eyes on my original parody and come back later today for more as my sequel gets released.
My latest video is about how the Labubu fandom has just jumped the shark. One of its biggest fans had customized her doll by painting its face black so it'll resemble those old racist blackface caricatures of black people that used to be common prior to the 1960s. #labubu#lafufu#popmart#blackface#caricature#african#africanamerican#race#racist#racism
For my latest video in my ongoing series about various places in the Baltimore-Washington, DC area that tourists rarely visit, I take a look at Belair Stable Museum, which once housed thoroughbred horse champions (including a few Triple Crown winners) but is now a museum that also includes period furniture and the stables where these race horses once lived.
Way back in 2017 I made this video about Richard Simmons urging people to just leave him alone. I made it in response to a then-recent event.
Here's a brief background: Richard Simmons decided to step away from the public spotlight in 2014 without making any kind of announcements. He simply stopped making public appearances and making new fitness videos. In 2017 one of Simmons' so-called "friends," filmmaker Dan Taberski, decided to do a series of half-an-hour podcasts called Missing Richard Simmons. He claimed that he did these podcasts as an “open letter” to Simmons. Having heard the first episode of this podcast, I thought his claims that he was only doing it out of concern for his friend was totally B.S. For one thing, he had commercial ads strewn throughout the entire episode. I remember Taberski’s podcast series went viral and he was doing interviews to promote it. I thought that the whole thing felt just wrong. If Richard Simmons had been a janitor or accountant, Taberski would've never made that podcast series at all. It was obvious that the podcast existed because of Simmons' fame that Taberski wanted to milk for his own financial reasons.
So I made this video, Leave Richard Simmons Alone, as a response to that podcast series. I argued that it's very likely that Richard Simmons simply wanted to take a break from being a celebrity and we should just leave him alone until he was ready to reenter public life.
Richard Simmons never came back in the public eye ever again and he died today at the age of 76. It's very likely that he decided to withdraw from public life ten years earlier because he had reached retirement age and he decided to just retire. You know something? It's okay that Richard Simmons decided to retire from being a celebrity fitness guru. I only hope that he enjoyed his last ten years as a retired person. Anyway, here is my Leave Richard Simmons Alone video from 2017.
Way back in the 1990s I had this idea of trying to make it as a computer animator. The World Wide Web was in its infancy, there were a bunch of BBS boards that were run by hobbyists plus there were three major subscription services--CompuServe, America On Line (which was later shortened to AOL), and Prodigy. Social media as we know it today just didn't exist. It was a time when people experimented with being creative online.
I decided to try an animated series of my own. It was called "The Unicorn With An Attitude" and it was a satiric series. The animation was crude by today's standards and it was made on a shoestring budget using whatever hardware and software I could afford. The first episode of my series was a parody of the intense media scrutiny surrounding the murder trial of O.J. Simpson. Since Simpson has died today, here is that animation where I parodied his trial all those years ago. #ojsimpson#animation
