✨ Community Post: 10 Things I’m Thankful For (Even With a Cancer Diagnosis)
When I first heard the words “you have lung cancer,” I went numb. It didn’t feel real.
A few days later, I did what I’ve always done when life gets tough, I sat down to write. Writing gives me clarity.

I made a list of the things I’m grateful for, even in the middle of this unexpected chapter of my life.

Here they are, in no particular order:

🌹 My Summer Roses
I’ll be having radiation in summer, which means I can sit on my patio afterward, breathe in the scent of my roses, and let nature remind me to heal.

🩺 Early Diagnosis
The cancer was caught early, and it’s treatable and curable. I’m grateful I listened to my instincts that day.

👩‍⚕️ A Caring Medical Team
Every doctor and nurse has been kind, patient, and steady. Their calm confidence helps me stay anchored.

⚕️ Modern Medicine
I’m thankful to live in a time when targeted treatments offer real hope.

💛 My Inner Strength
I’ve faced challenges before, and I’ve learned that courage isn’t the absence of fear, it’s choosing to move forward anyway.

🐾 My Two Cats, Mimi and Ziva
Their purrs, antics, and loving company lift my spirits more than they’ll ever know.

✍️ Writing
Writing keeps me connected, creative, and grounded in something bigger than fear.

🌿 Small Moments of Joy
Birdsong, warm sunlight, a cup of tea, an afternoon nap, simple things feel even more precious now.

✨ Hope
Maya Angelou said it perfectly: “Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space. Invite one to stay.”

👨‍👧 Stuart
My son’s support and understanding give me so much peace. He means more to me than words can say.

Life doesn’t stop being beautiful just because something difficult enters it. If anything, it becomes more precious.
