A massive new Witcher 3 fan expansion is in the works — and it’s bringing back a major cut storyline.

A group of modders is developing The WAR Project, a 10‑hour expansion that revives the removed Catriona Plague questline using years of datamined content. The mod will feature 12 new quests, expanded locations, and characters that never made it into the final game.

The project is supported by Witcher expert xLetalis, who’s been documenting and assisting development. The team is also holding open auditions for a new Geralt voice actor, giving fans a chance to become the White Wolf.

A playable demo is already available, with the full release targeted for 2027.

AFTER 20 YEARS, A HIDDEN DUALSHOCK 3 FEATURE HAS BEEN UNLOCKED! 🎮

The team behind @driftguardapp has uncovered a previously unknown calibration method buried inside the DualShock 3’s firmware — a function Sony has kept hidden since the controller launched in 2006.

This breakthrough allows for:

• Hidden Range Calibration — The analog sticks’ physical operating range can finally be adjusted.
• Permanent Drift Fixes — Light stick drift can be eliminated through calibration, making old controllers feel new again.
• On‑Board Saving — All calibration values are stored directly in the controller’s internal memory.

This is a method that simply wasn’t accessible until now, and it could change how aging PS3 controllers are repaired and preserved.

Valve co‑founder Gabe Newell just bought a $70.8M waterfront estate in Florida.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Newell purchased a 2.06‑acre property in Manalapan featuring a 20,000 sq ft home, swimming pool, private dock, boat lift, and even a tunnel that leads directly to the beach.

It’s a major real‑estate move for one of gaming’s most influential figures, and a rare look into the personal life of the usually private Valve co‑founder.

Sony has patented a new PlayStation controller concept with dynamic, shape‑changing buttons.

According to the filing, the buttons could change resistance based on in‑game events — getting softer, harder, or even briefly restricting finger movement if your character is grabbed or restrained on‑screen.

It’s an experimental idea, but it shows how far haptic design might go in future hardware.

PS5 jailbreaking tools are evolving fast.

A new update to the PS5 BD‑JB Autoloader is making the jailbreak process far more streamlined. The tool can now automatically load exploits and payloads with minimal manual setup, supporting firmware versions 4.03 through 12.00.

Key features include:
• Automatic kernel exploit loading
• Built‑in Payload Manager
• Web‑based management interface
• USB and internal storage support
• Custom autoload chains
• Cross‑platform unified autoloader system

The latest release also improves payload stability and reduces the chances of kernel panics during loading. What used to require multiple steps can now happen almost entirely on its own.

This marks another step in the rapid evolution of PS5 homebrew tooling and research.

EU rejects mandatory preservation of online games.

The European Commission has officially responded to the Stop Killing Games initiative, which gathered more than 1.2 million signatures across Europe. The Commission says it will not require publishers to keep online games playable after they end support, arguing that existing EU consumer laws already offer sufficient protection and that studios retain the right to shut down their services.

However, the EU has committed to working with industry and consumer groups to create a voluntary “end‑of‑life” code of conduct for video games by the end of 2026. This aims to improve transparency and set clearer expectations for players when online titles approach shutdown.

What do you think this means for digital ownership and game preservation

Industry Shock: Entire Luna Abyss Dev Team Laid Off

Less than a month after Luna Abyss launched, Kwalee Labs has laid off the entire development team — all nine members.
CEO Hollie Emery called the decision “completely outside of our control.”

What makes this even wilder?
The game launched to strong reviews:
81 Metacritic
86% Steam rating
Day‑one on Game Pass
Praised for its atmosphere, bullet‑hell combat, and world design

Yet the team behind it is now gone.

This is becoming a brutal pattern in the industry: even critically successful indie/AA titles aren’t guaranteed financial stability anymore.

What do you think this means for the future of Luna Abyss — updates, patches, or a sequel?

Microsoft Reportedly Shuts Down Compulsion Games After South of Midnight Flops

“South of Midnight” was made by 100+ devs over 7 years, with a reported $100 million budget… and it peaked at just 1,438 concurrent players on Steam.

The studio bragged about “1 million players,” but the game was free on Game Pass, which has 37 million subscribers.
Do the math — that means about 98% of Game Pass users didn’t even bother to try it, even when it cost them nothing.

Compulsion also hired the controversial narrative consulting firm Sweet Baby Inc, and gamers overwhelmingly rejected the final product. Critical awards didn’t help either — the game even won a Peabody Award, which only made the situation feel more surreal.

Now multiple reports say Microsoft has shut down Compulsion Games.

This comes after insiders said staff at both Compulsion and Arkane were worried about their future. Some senior employees reportedly described “real concern” inside the studios.

Compulsion joined Xbox in 2018 and finally released South of Midnight in 2025. One massively expensive project, one massive flop… and now the studio is gone.

How could anyone justify giving them another $100 million after this performance?

Microsoft hasn’t officially commented yet.
