To say 2025 rocked me to my core is an understatement.

On this day last year, we were in a huge pit. A failed business venture took every bit of wind out of our sails. I emphatically declared: I AM NOT STARTING ANY NEW BUSINESSES IN 2025. God had other ideas and one year ago TODAY an idea was born.

That idea became Reconciled Greetings, which will see its full launch later this year! We soft launched the brand in the summer and fully realized the challenge ahead. We needed a break from it. Luckily, we had something to pivot to.

By what can only be described as God’s good timing, we began to reclaim the music and mission of Cockeyed Optimist and we began recording our first new music in SEVEN YEARS.

Then came the Fall…

I’ve always considered myself to be a guy who welcomes others to hold their own opinions (I’m an American after all). Even so, I was shocked and horrified at the opinions and feelings expressed by people I considered “friends” in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Disagreeing with a person’s stance is one thing; wanton celebration of murder is quite another.

While I lamented the revelations and began facing my own mortality, here again came God telling us the “start talking”. And with that Cockeyed Optimist’s RADIO FREE ROCK was born. The first two episode are already up in our YouTube.

2025 was defined by seasons of silence, perhaps motivated by a fear of being disliked or being accused of being something I’m not. But I’ve learned where my identity is truly rooted, who my friends truly are, and whose opinion of me matters the most.

So consider the silence over. 2026 is gonna be a wild ride!

If you’d still like to come along with me, you are welcome to do so. If not, we part with no hard feelings and we go our separate ways.

Thank you Lord for one of the strangest years ever.
Now I pray this year feel like the LONGEST year ever.

Happy New Year friends!

Small updates:

1. I’m playing a gig tonight in Orange County at ‪@OceansChurch‬. If you are in the Irvine area, come spend some time with us and ring in the new year with worship 👍

2. The studio is an absolute nightmare from the various guitar sessions we’ve been having. Gear is everywhere and it’s messy. Doesn’t look good on camera at all. The likelihood of a “Best of” video is pretty bleak.
If I do it, I may just do it live…we’ll see.

3. Expect BIG changes and BIG challenges on the channel in 2026.

This is what happens to the pedalboard when I start recording. The good stuff gets torn off and used.

Don’t worry! The board will come back together soon enough. I have a gig on New Year’s Eve and if you’re in the Orange County, CA area I would love it you came out!

Recording has been happening a lot here lately.
It’s likely that (aside from one video o filmed months ago that needs to be edited) you have seen the last video of the year on the channel.

I am considering releasing a “Best of 2025” video but that’s looking less and less likely.

However, if that changes you’ll hear it here first.

BTW, any of you seeing these posts? Any of you interested in this stuff anymore? How many of you haven’t seen ANY of the new videos I’ve made? I get the feeling YouTube is not delivering ANYTHING I make to anyone these days. *side rant over*
