The Bhaumakara Dynasty dates back to 843 A.D. This was when Odisha and the whole dynasty got its first female ruler, Tribhuvana Mahadevi I.
Mahadevi was also popularly known as Paramavaishnavi Goswamini Devi or Devi Katyayani (form of Goddess Shakti).

After her Bhaumakara Dynasty also had 5 more Queen Rulers : Tribhubana Mahadevi 3, Gauri Mahadevi, Vakula Mahadevi, Dharma Mahadevi , Dandi Mahadevi ... proving the status of woman were no less than a man during 8th century India.
