The third anniversary of the Tempi crash has just passed. Seeing the Greek people take to the streets again awoke in me that hope that my friends mention in part 2. It also reminded me of what Stavroula said: "We the people are the ones who have each other's back." Now that the third anniversary has passed, I hope you will continue sharing their stories, to keep the conversation alive.
We won't shy away from difficult subjects here on the channel. That being said, our next upload will be on a more lighthearted topic. :)
On the 28th of February, 2023, two trains collided head on in the region of Tempi, Greece. The accident itself has been extensively covered by the media, Greek and foreign. The tragic loss of life, and the blame on successive governments which is all too obvious, are always in the spotlight.
But what about the survivors? What about their wounds, both physical end phycological? As we approach the third anniversary of the crash, and with another series of train crashes in Spain fresh on our minds, this is yet another chance to reflect, decide on what actions we ought to take to prevent such tragedies from repeating themselves, and to keep those in power accountable.
In our next video, five survivors from the Tempi tragedy agreed to sit down and talk with me, to discuss the days after, the long road to recovery, and how they found each other’s companionship as a rock to step on and move forward.
