Initially planned to continue the final portion of the puzzle event quest in ZZZ and either do more date quests or the next Hollow Zero story mission by proxy today. But it’s a family member’s birthday so I’ll get to it later.
Been debating as to when I wanna continue my playthrough of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Took a break from the game due to it burning me out, but now I’m less motivated to touch it after Leenzee bent the knee to weirdoes with that atrocious 1.5 patch which fixed a handful of the issues I had, whilst making everything else worse.
Eh, guess I’ll do the next Zenless Zone Zero event quest and do more character dates. Good news is I finally got Yanagi! The bad news? I do not think I’ll have any polychromes or tapes to get Alice in time and I may have to wait for her to come back. Oh how I wish I started ZZZ much earlier 😩
Couldn’t beat her in the stream due to time, difficulty and exhaustion (and I had to go help make tacos for dinner). Just beat Fang Ling and made barbecue out of her worm form. I want to say that I like her fight, but the inconsistency in rules with several of her attacks and that obnoxious cartwheel attack she does just makes what started as a seemingly fun fight into a tedious chore. And the worm form just adds insult to injury (flashes back to the awful worm bosses in Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2😭).
Eventually I just traded out all the anti-poise break gear in favor of anti-stab and slash gear and geared up on fire spells to quickly burn Ling’s health away so as to end the fight faster, because the defensive and health regeneration setup I had just wasn’t cutting it. Well folks, I had intended to make a singular playthrough of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers where I would cap it off with 1 out of the 2 best endings in the game. However I made a wrong turn, got too greedy heading where I wasn’t supposed to, and ended up likely botching the spawn order for a very specific NPC who now refuses to show up where he’s supposed to.
So it’s looking like I’ll be doing an extended playthrough where I’ll end the first cycle early with one of the generic/bad endings, and then continue by redoing everything via new game plus so I can do things correctly. And I’m told the final boss is a real handful, especially for first time playthroughs, so maybe it’s a blessing in disguise I guess. I don’t like it, but it’s better than restarting everything from scratch and suffering more than I’d like to I suppose.
I’m really liking the game, but there’s some aspects of the Dark Souls formula that really annoy me that I frankly wish would be retired: having to see specific NPCs at very specific times with no way to find them again if I missed them, and I hate that there’s no traditional save & load feature and that I’m forced to go in a direction I don’t want to if I make a mistake.😫

Just like with several bosses for previous Souls-clone games that I played which were obnoxiously difficult and took too long to defeat, I went and recorded my winning battle in a separate video through my PS5. This fight was PAINFUL to accomplish and it really highlights some problems that Leenzee should have caught during development (it takes too long to heal, Wuchang can’t get back up fast enough, and the weapon clash mechanic is a poorly executed gimmick that hardly works, it’s not worth my time learning and I was better off using the unlockable deflection parry instead). Can’t do much more with ZZZ as of right now due to the tedious temple stuff needing to reach that nonsensical cloud coin threshold so I booted up Monster Hunter Wilds with the intention of doing the Lagiacrus update but instead….. I’ve just been sitting on my keister scrolling through vtuber channels for the past hour while my character was just left standing stiff in the grand hub. That’s how little I actually want to go back and play it, new monster or no. Maybe tomorrow I guess. Haven’t been this unmotivated to play a game since Dragon Age 2.
Tomorrow is July 4 and I have a day off. So I will do my best to make actual progress in Zenless Zone Zero and tackle Ju Fufu’s agent story. Sadly what has kept stopping me from doing it has been quests unlocking via the tedious temple restoration stuff that I keep wanting to get out of the way. Thankfully the Reverb Arena food event quest line is over so I don’t have to tackle that anymore. Also ZZZ has decided to keep blue balling me from getting Caesar, so that hasn’t been fun.
Unrelated to gaming and I can’t give an actual opinion on it since I haven’t seen it yet, but I am not convinced Jurassic World: Rebirth was meant to be any sort of proper follow-up to the previous movies. I’m far more convinced that it was churned out as a rushed out spin-off or half-reboot to try and salvage the JW rebrand after how much of a joke Dominion made it, Fallen Kingdom also if you count that (Dominion is also the only Jurassic movie I have yet to bother seeing in fact). Not too dissimilar to how WB kept panicking and making one bad decision after the other after how Batman v Superman underperformed. Honestly I’m more interested in the upcoming film adaptation to Primitive War.
Took a mental health day off today and yesterday from streaming more Zenless Zone Zero due to a mild case of burn out. Will likely resume the game tomorrow.
Decided to get some extra sleep and to go back and reacquaint myself with my comfort food that is Stellar Blade since the new updates for it dropped. I plan on doing a stream covering the new Captain Mann boss fight and Nikke expansion content sometime soon.
I’m also aware of the Akuma Street Fighter quests that were plopped onto Monster Hunter Wilds recently, and honestly I could not give any less of a damn. Wilds has not managed to keep more than a third of my attention like World previously did at launch, in fact I’d argue it doubles down on a lot of the problems I had with Rise, and as such I have no motivation to get back into it just yet. I’ll definitely go back to it once title update 2 comes out with Lagiacrus however. An out of nowhere crossover quest line for Street Fighter? Nope, not interested.
