Well, this one is truly a milestone for Universal Tribe Records.

Australiens has always been an absolute classic, and we couldn’t have asked for a better track to be entrusted with for such a monumental remix project. I remember blasting it in my van while travelling around Australia, imagining how perfect it would be for us to bring something like this to life.
It wasn’t until Jay Doonz reached out proposing the idea that triggered the nudge to pursue it.
They say all good things take time, and this one really did. Having worked with many artists, I've endured some long projects, but this one is by far our longest-running project to date — with the first ideas emerging over four years ago. Life gets busy, and when you're working with artist's touring around the globe all the time... well, let’s just say it takes a bit of time for some things! 🤣
But we got there — and I’m beyond thrilled with the result.
A massive thank you to Iboga Records, Shahaf (Freedom Fighters), Michael Banel, Martin Vice, and of course the 5 legendary UTR artists and extended family who’ve each delivered absolutely incredible remixes. Your support and belief in this project — even through the long wait — has meant the world and I can't wait to share more news of these legends in the coming weeks.

Continuing with his wonderful work in bringing together another chapter to our evolving ‘Subspecies’ VA series. Gabe’s persistence for influencing a larger focus towards the Deep Daytime sounds shifted us towards the creation of this concept, and having worked together to find a balance that incorporated his funky daytime and musical melody’s along with our naturally organic and earthy sound has been a great journey. ✨

We would recommend his production classes for up and coming talents as he’s always seeking out the future funk masters that are best suited for coming Subspecies VA’s.


~ Words from the wizard:

When I first started getting into psytrance I was quickly drawn to Universal Tribe Records for their deep and organic sounds. I’ve always been captivated by the melodic and groovy essence of bush prog. Although I felt that Universal Tribe was the perfect fit for my music, Yet, despite the label’s strong identity, I found there wasn’t a compilation album that truly represented the sound I was passionate about. After releasing two EPs on the label, I wanted to promote this sound more and create a home for the deep daytime sound. I collaborated with Universal Tribe Records to create a home for this sound under the alias; Subspecies.

With each new edition, Subspecies has evolved, attracting fresh talent and further refining its sound. It is very exciting to see the sound grow and inspire new artists. My ultimate goal is for Universal Tribe Records and Subspecies to be recognized worldwide as the definitive home for deep daytime bush prog.

India's ace minimal and psytechno producer Folic State along with rising talent Uddhav, have teamed up to whip out a deep, hypnotic, groovy EP titled ‘Rewired’ that’s now available on Beatport. 👽

We've been curious to learn more about their inspirations behind this sonic treasure, so here’s a few words from Folic State ⚡️👇🏼

It was back in June 2023 when Uddhav & I decided to collab on the Ep. Uddhav sent me a few sounds and as I started working on the project, ideas kept flowing! The first track ‘Wholesale’ came together really quick, I produced and mixed the track within 2-3 sessions. I still felt something was missing. A few months later, I landed in Goa and my super chirpy goan taxi driver went on about the wholesale liquor shops, with low pricing and how the rains affect sales. I figured that was the missing piece of the puzzle, and that’s how I decided to sample him and we had a complete track!
‘Rewired’ being the second track, we wanted to keep it more driving and peak time as ‘Wholesale’ is more of an early hour track or an after hours tune. The inspiration flowed through by keeping in mind how human minds have been rewired over the years with the human perception changing with time, getting pretty twisted as the years go by due to various influences. After testing both tracks on the dancefloor, they will finally see the light of day very soon! 🔊
