London! I’m so excited to be coming back with my band on May 20th for Footsteps Festival. We’ll be performing the Constellation album in full — and it’ll be my last London show for a while as I head into the studio to start work on the next record. Would love to see you there! Tickets: crlive.co.uk/
Constellation Sessions (Live at Space Studios, Manchester) EP is out today 😃
I loved recording this session and seeing how it’s come together after a whole lot of work, preparation and a massive team effort from a wonderful group of creatives. These versions of the songs really breathe a whole new life into the music, I felt so supported and uplifted by my bandmates; their thoughtful playing and positive energy. This performance features Jasmine Myra on saxophone, Rich Williams on guitar and samples, Gavin Barras on bass and Alan Taylor on drums - (it’s a real joy to play with you all, thank you!) Recording the songs together in this way has really inspired me for what’s next.
Extra shows added ✨ Really grateful to be playing these shows. It’s great to be continuing the Constellation Tour & I’m looking forward to playing in lots of new places x
My collaboration with Slowly Rolling Camera is out today 🙂
Making this tune was a really cool process and I was chuffed to be asked to work with the band as I’ve been a fan since discovering their ‘Juniper’ album.
The lyrics are about feeling dissatisfied and overwhelmed by the heaviness of things going on around us but ultimately using this as fuel to make a change and move in a new direction.
When I was writing this song, I was thinking about a close friend of mine. I am in awe of their sense of adventure and resilience. That really inspired the lyrics. I also had this image of a dying star in mind; vivid and dynamic -to me it represents strength and wonder. I hope you enjoy it and can drift away to the meandering melodies.
The second single 'Like Lightning' stemmed from a quiet moment of reflection at my piano. It was written around the same time as making the ‘Constellation’ album. I was reading a book of poems by Olivia Harrison dedicated to George Harrison, called ‘Came The Lightening’. It’s a beautiful book filled with heartache but also hope and it really moved and inspired me. The release of this song coincides with the start of my first headline tour. I’m really looking forward to sharing music from ‘Constellation’ with you.
Tomorrow you can watch a live performance of me and my band playing songs from my new album 'Constellation' ahead of its release. It will be premiering on @gondwanarecords YouTube channel at 8pm BST / 9pm CEST.
‘Simple’ is about getting out of your own head, stepping back from everything and how simple and easy that seems. Although we can feel small and insignificant ‘under the same stars’ it’s about having a sense of adventure, wondering where we could go and what more we can experience and explore.
