Montmartre is one of those neighborhoods you simply cannot skip when you visit Paris. The streets, the views, the history. It genuinely has it all.
But how you plan it will either make it one of the most beautiful moments of your trip, or leave you frustrated, overcharged, and wondering what everyone was talking about.
I visited, I have opinions, and I covered everything honestly. What blew me away, what disappointed me, and what I would do completely differently next time.
Most people spend hours comparing hotels on price, photos, and reviews.
They forget the one thing that actually determines how their trip feels: location.
The wrong arrondissement means more metro rides, more noise, and less energy for the things you came for. The right one quietly makes everything easier.
Swipe through to find the area that fits how you travel or send it to someone planning a Paris trip đșïž
Youâre not paying âŹ5 for coffee. Youâre paying for the terrace, the location, the energy, and the permission to sit in Paris and do nothing.
Locals would never pay that price, but youâre not there to live in Paris. Youâre there to experience it and make the most of your time.
Thatâs why some âtourist spotsâ are still worth it if you choose them intentionally. Because sometimes the memory and the feeling matter more than the menu.
If youâre expecting subtle Parisian romance, youâll hate it. If youâre uncomfortable with bold performance, youâll judge it. If you want something quiet and refined, this isnât your night.
Itâs theatrical, loud, and unapologetic. And completely committed to what it is.
Would I recommend it to everyone? No. Would I recommend it to people who appreciate spectacle and discipline? Yes.
Travel isnât about doing everything. Itâs about choosing the version of a city that fits you.
Some people need museums. Some people need one dramatic night with red velvet and champagne.
I have a simple hack that can save you hours in Paris: if a place has multiple locations, donât automatically go to the most famous one.
Le Relais de lâEntrecĂŽte is the perfect example.
The first time I tried to go, it was a Friday night at the location near the Eiffel Tower. It was pouring rain and there was still a huge line outside. The wait looked like at least 2 hours.
They donât take reservations and itâs extremely popular, so timing matters.
So I went again on a Tuesday to the Saint Germain location. No line outside. Inside was full, but we got seated quickly.
Atmosphere: classic French. Waitresses in uniforms, handwritten menu, small tables, narrow spaces, and you sit close to other people.
I had champagne and the waitress told me itâs made by the owner. One of the best I had in Paris.
Dessert: I ordered the dame blanche. You donât need dessert after this meal, but itâs worth trying.
If you want the experience without losing half your evening, go to Saint Germain on a weekday.

Tourist cafés in Paris are popular for a reason.
Youâre not paying âŹ5 for coffee. Youâre paying for the terrace, the location, the energy, and the permission to sit in Paris and do nothing.
Locals would never pay that price, but youâre not there to live in Paris. Youâre there to experience it and make the most of your time.

Save this for your trip and pick your Paris cafĂ©s based on your mood. âđ„

Not everyone should go to the Moulin Rouge.
And thatâs exactly why it works.
If youâre expecting subtle Parisian romance, youâll hate it.
If youâre uncomfortable with bold performance, youâll judge it.
If you want something quiet and refined, this isnât your night.
Itâs theatrical, loud, and unapologetic.

Would I recommend it to people who appreciate spectacle and discipline? Yes.
Travel isnât about doing everything.
Itâs about choosing the version of a city that fits you.
Some people need museums.
Some people need one dramatic night with red velvet and champagne.
Decide accordingly. đ„đ«đ·
