PIERER Mobility AG: Restructuring plan of KTM AG accepted by creditors
Many of you will doubtless be interested in the ongoing saga of KTM. The trigger of the problem appears to be the final acceptance of the crankshaft issues in the Chinese built bikes. Had KTM accepted responsibility earlier it is possible that this point would never have been reached.
But the good news is that we finally have a way forward as a plan has been agreed. Bajaj; the Indian based builder of the smaller KTMs had already been a major shareholder in KTM and would have suffered a major impact if KTM had gone under considering the number of bikes they build for KTM. So it seems likely they will be a key player in the new structure and cash will have been raised by the sale of MV Augusta.
PIERER Mobility AG previous announced that it had received several offers from investors allowing the restructuring plans of KTM AG and its insolvent subsidiaries to be financed.
According to KTM, at today's restructuring plan meeting, the creditors accepted the restructuring plan submitted by KTM AG, subject to KTM being able to raise the offered funds.
Funds are planned to be made available allowing production to be ramped up again gradually from mid-March 2025. The planned full capacity utilisation of the four production lines in single-shift operation is to be achieved within three months.
Where I live is a mixture of clay and chalk, which for off road means very slippery when wet and very technical, not huge jumps or high speed. So I've upgraded to Super Adventure S foot pegs for more grip. What upgrades have you done?
Interesting video from @SuperbikeSurgeryTV. For those who have experienced bike shut down under hard deceleration with clutch pulled in, a possible cause is the throttle butterfly being pulled fully closed shutting off the airflow. Something to add to the possible causes if you experience this. https://youtu.be/qgFioYJQPdo?si=Ok1_b...
When I finish playing off road I will be switching back to these. I need to create a slick process where I can swap out the wheels with chain and sprockets to suit the different riding. It was difficult to find the front flame disk @RokBagorosStuntrider
Even though the swinging arm and chain guard got a lot of mud spray, the hugger and repositioned number plate did a great job of reducing the spray onto the seat.
Testing the Svartpilen rear hugger on the Duke. It works well and cuts out the spray of water and mud onto the rear of the bike, but I can't say I'm a fan of how it looks - or of the alternatives you can buy. What do you think - live with the mud on wet days or go for the protection?
Given that this doesn't have the suspension travel of a dirt bike, and even though there are no rocks where I ride (chalk doesn't really count), I've added a bash plate from @AS3Performance which was really easy to fit.
I guess I should show a before and after shot in case anyone was wondering if I actually intended taking the bike off road. Here is after a slightly muddy green lane as I'm testing the setup.

At home in the urban jungle. I've gone back to the 48 tooth rear sprocket to see how much it changes the off road ability.
