The UK is so rich on paper, and yet unable to meet so many of our basic needs.
Once the ‘workshop of the world’, our economy has shifted from productive to extractive: instead of creating real wealth, we strip out what we already have and funnel it into rents, interest, profits, and sell-offs to wealthy (often foreign) investors.
I’m Martin Whitlock, writer and artist, and I’ll be using words and images to reveal how this plays out in real time. By noticing it and changing the rules of the system driving it, we can reverse the damage and build a sustainable, productive economy that creates real value in all our lives.
