Hey everyone! I just launched Axe Ghost v1.0 on Steam. It’s a turn-based tactics game with a focus on intense 20-minute runs, spatial combat, and leaderboard rivalry.
You manipulate a horde of advancing monsters to group and destroy them. Like a haunted Into the Breach meets Gloomhaven meets Tetris.
If you’re into puzzly block-pushing challenges, high-score chasing, or ghosts with normal human arms I’d love you to check it out.
There's a 20% launch discount. The demo's still up too, and progress carries over to the full game.

Hey all, my indie game has a free demo (win/macOS). If you feel like playing and leaving a review that would be very valuable!

Axe Ghost is like a compact turn-based mix of Tetris, Into the Breach, and Gloomhaven.
You use cards to battle an advancing monster horde in turn-based spatial combat, manipulating enemies to group them up before smashing them for high scores.
The weapons let you push, swap, clone, slice, freeze, magnetize and destroy the monsters before they reach the bottom of the grid. Group them cleverly - the more monsters you destroy in a single attack, the more each one is worth.
Axe Ghost has a free demo on the Steam page, available for Windows and macOS. All demo reviews are very welcome!

I'm making a small video game called Axe Ghost, it's a turn-based spatial reasoning battle against a horde of monsters.

This guy's created a rebuttal video to my animated treatment of David Friedman. Private Rights Enforcement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_4zx...

If, one day, i made a Rights Enforcement Agency simulator game, what should be in it? (definition/primer on REAs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PnkC...)
A Friedmanian REA simulation
* Free to play
* Runs in your browser
* Design optimised more for casual entertainment than realism
* Via the above, a vehicle for exposition about anarcho-capitalism, economics, & polycentric law.
It would include standard business resource management elements like:
* Choices relating to opening/closing offices/stations
* Setting prices for services
* Unlocking 'upgrades' by investing funds in research / business development / marketing (e.g. tech upgrades, opportunities for partnerships with other businesses, ability to offer new customer products/services)
What theme-specific ideas/dynamics are most important to include in a game like this? Current thoughts:
* Playthrough takes place over a limited (game time) timeframe: 5 years or bankruptcy, whichever comes first.
* Contained geographic area. Quarters with diff 'profile' for typical customer, reflecting different average preferences / priorities / wealth.
* 2/3 main rival REAs competing for customers in same territory.
An advisor presents exposition about 'events' occurring in the game world and presents the player with multiple choice options about how to proceed. Events could relate to:
* A defecting REA
* A new/ascendant REA
* Opportunity for partnership w other business
* Public sentiment changes (e.g. as a result of an REA losing reputation because of some failure)
* Emergence of another unusual threat to customer safety (gang, serial killer)
Stuff that's interesting but maybe/probably out of scope:
* National defence arrangements (via infrastructure insurance firms, a la Robert Murphy's Chaos Theory, perhaps combined with Alex Tabarrok's dominant assurance contracts)
* Compensation agreements between REAs when choosing a private court especially favoured by one of them
Feel free to comment with anything that comes to mind!

Dear supporters,
Disruption related to the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown off the original plan to publish Sex and Taxes before the end of 2020. That isn't realistic anymore.
For a few months following March, a change in our domestic situation meant that the time I had available to work on the animation was reduced severely.
Frustrating as this is, I'm thankful for our health and relative security so far. So many families have been hit much worse.
My apologies for the delay. I hope you're looking forward to seeing the animation finished as I am!
Things here are still in flux. We're working on securing more working time. But I can't project a new target date with much confidence at the moment so I won't try to do that.
If you want to see occasional Sex and Taxes updates i've been posting them on Twitter.

I talked with Peter R. Quinones on his podcast. A bit about my animations, and about how rights could be enforced in a hypothetical anarcho-capitalist society.
