Pictured: our last day excursion on our international journey...
Funny how the world can flip so quickly; more evidence that you can't put off the things you want to do with your life until 'later' because reality doesn't care about your future plans! So our 18 month journey around the world is coming to a grinding halt. We were happily bouncing around the islands of the South Pacific when COVID-19 took hold.
Our most recent video was about us getting a health certificate to be allowed to visit Tahiti. Since then, in a matter of days, most countries (including Tahiti) have closed their borders to foreigners. In fact, we still have some of our hiking gear (boots, jackets) in New Zealand, as the plan was to retrieve it and head to Patagonia in about a week.
Now we're sitting in a hostel with a flight booked for the US in a few days. Fingers crossed that they don't shut down the airport before then!
Rather than look at the negatives here, we totally understand the need for most international travel to stop at this point in time and are very grateful to have had a 15 month journey. We suppose we'll just save South America for another time.
We still have videos scheduled to post from our adventures in New Zealand, then we'll be working the Pacific videos (some of the most beautiful islands we've ever seen). After that, we'll assess the situation in America and maybe just visit some national parks (if open/safe) with our remaining time.
As always, thanks for watching! More (and maybe different) content to come in the future! Hope everyone stays home and stays safe!
We've been tramping around New Zealand the past week or so, hiking to more than one peak, taking overnight boat rides, exploring the vineyards, and seeing what the local cuisine has to offer. We've got a few more Australia videos to share with you, but after those it'll be less city travel videos and more about some incredible landscapes and regions of this cool country.
Until then, here's a photo from our boat cruise through Doubtful sound a couple days ago. We're excited to show everyone what this place is all about!
The next FIVE videos coming up on BLUF are all about Jordan. We're in the Philippines now, basically just working on these episodes before we start island hopping to see if we can find the very best beach this country has to offer.
You'll see a desert camp where they filmed the Martian, Petra of course, Maggie feeding some camels, Jimmy floating for the first time in his life (thanks to the Dead Sea), some pretty cool stargazing, and a dessert called Knafeh that we couldn't get enough of (it's hard to explain, but super delicious)
Excited to show you guys Jordan, especially since it was way cooler than we thought it would be, and super excited to do some tropical videos in the near future as well (another atypical holiday season for us I suppose, Christmas in Boracay).
Congrats to our winner of the hot air balloon raffle, Aaron Evenson from Germany!
We passed on the voucher to him and he said he'll be making a trip over to Bristol once it warms up and they start flying again in the spring -- enjoy the views and the champagne Aaron, and thanks for watching BLUF!
Hey everyone! We're currently in Cape Town, and about to fly up to Cairo and spend 10 days doing absolutely nothing but working on producing more content (we're a bit behind and have a ton of videos/photos to produce). Just wanted to try out this community post and thank everyone for watching - we're leaving Africa soon and concluding "Season 1" of BLUF...but we're super excited to start Season 2!! (photo is not from Cape Town =P)
