Papal Conclave Day 2: Cardinals Vote Again After Black Smoke on Day 1 | Will a New Pope Be Chosen Today?👇

Cardinals have returned to the Sistine Chapel for Day 2 of the papal conclave, after Day 1 ended with black smoke—signaling no pope has been elected yet. Around 45,000 people gathered to witness the historic moment, even though no outcome was expected on the first day.

Today's voting holds higher expectations, as the last two popes—Francis and Benedict XVI—were both elected on the second day. The 133 electors will cast up to four votes daily until a new pope is chosen. White smoke will signal a successful vote, possibly appearing after key times throughout the day (10:30 a.m., 12 p.m., or after 5:30 p.m. local time).

This conclave is the most diverse in Catholic history, featuring cardinals from nations newly represented in the election process. The world now watches for the white smoke that will announce the next leader of the Catholic Church.

The 2778th birthday of Rome, celebrated on April 21, 2025, marks a monumental milestone in the Eternal City's incredible history. Known as Natale di Roma, this annual celebration commemorates the legendary founding of Rome by Romulus in 753 BCE. With nearly three millennia of history behind it, Rome continues to be a symbol of resilience, culture, and legacy.

For this 2778th anniversary, the city is expected to host a series of grand events: historical reenactments of ancient Roman life, gladiator battles, parades and ceremonial rituals at the Palatine Hill — the mythical birthplace of the city.

From 15 different Nations including locals and visitors alike come together, dressed in Roman attire, to honor Rome's past and its enduring spirit.

This year unfortunately the ceremony was affected by the condolences of Pope Francisco's pass away, but hopefully I still had some amazing shots in the memory.
