The Church of Wisdom: Where We Worship the Temple Within

Hallelujah to the lungs that breathe life into us. Praise be to the heart that beats tirelessly, day and night. Glory to the liver, the kidneys, the gut — our unsung heroes. In the Church of Wisdom, we raise no altar to deities in the sky, but to the sacred temple that carries us: the human body.

www.krachouse.com

In a world where religion often looks outward for salvation, guidance, and answers, the Church of Wisdom turns inward. Here, we do not preach a god. We do not debate scripture or kneel before statues. Instead, we rise each morning to give thanks to our bodies — the magnificent machines that carry our consciousness, the sacred vessels that allow us to experience life in its fullness.

We gather not to judge but to listen. We do not wear robes of piety but robes of self-awareness. And our prayers? They are green smoothies, stretches at sunrise, and deep breaths under moonlight. In this church, health is holiness, and wisdom is worship.

The Body: The Real Temple

Even the Bible — yes, that ancient text — said it: "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit?" (1 Corinthians 6:19). Whether you interpret that spiritually or biologically, the truth remains: the human body is sacred. It is miraculous. And like any temple, it requires care, maintenance, and reverence.

In the Church of Wisdom, we take that metaphor seriously. We strive to keep our temples clean, not just from sin or spiritual impurity, but from toxins, stress, and neglect. We respect the rhythms of the body — sleep, digestion, heartbeat, breath. We preach nutrition as scripture, movement as meditation, and hydration as holy ritual.

Praise Be to Our Organs

Let us take a moment to honour the high priests within us — the vital organs that labour without complaint:

The Heart, our eternal drummer, beating over 100,000 times a day. Without applause, without pause, it keeps us alive.

The lungs, our twin wings, drawing in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide, remind us to breathe in peace and exhale chaos.

The liver, the great filter and chemist, processing everything we consume and keeping our internal systems balanced.

The Kidneys, our diligent washers, filtering blood, excreting waste, and maintaining our hydration and electrolyte balance.

The Brain, the divine conductor, composing thoughts, emotions, dreams, and decisions. It is the seat of consciousness — the pulpit of our awareness.

The Gut, our second brain, housing trillions of microbes, digesting food, and sending messages to the mind through hormones and nerves.

The skin, the holy shield, protects us from the outer world while breathing, sweating, and sensing our environment.

In the Church of Wisdom, we do not idolize — we appreciate. We say: Thank you, body. Thank you, liver. Thank you, skin. Thank you, heart. You did not ask to be born, yet you serve faithfully. Hallelujah!

Rituals of the Church

We have our rituals — not of incense or hymns, but of lifestyle. Daily practices rooted in gratitude and respect for our temple:

1. Morning Offerings: A glass of clean water upon waking. A moment of silence. A gentle stretch to awaken the limbs.

2. Sacred Nourishment: Meals made from plants, whole grains, fruits, clean proteins — not as diets, but as devotion.

3. Movement Prayer: Walking, dancing, stretching, or running. Not to punish the body but to honour its capacity.

4. Stillness & Meditation: Listening to the body. Letting the breath be a sermon. Sitting still as a way to reset the nervous system.

5. Rest as Worship: Sleep — the nightly resurrection. Where the brain cleanses itself. Where the body repairs. We do not hustle through rest. We respect it.

Sin in the Church of Wisdom

We do not believe in eternal damnation, but we recognize acts that desecrate the body temple. Chronic stress, processed junk, overwork, addiction, self-hatred — these are our modern “sins.” Not because they offend a god, but because they corrode the very gift we were born with: a functioning body.

Repentance here does not involve confession but change. To eat better, rest more, love deeper, and move regularly — this is our redemption.

Community, Not Judgment

In the Church of Wisdom, we are all students. We do not shame those struggling with health. We uplift them. We share knowledge. We recognize that everyone’s temple is different — shaped by genetics, trauma, environment, and choices. Our only dogma is this: treat your body with reverence and help others do the same.

We’re not perfect, and we don’t pretend to be. We fall off the path. We binge. We skip sleep. But we always return — not because we’re afraid of punishment, but because we are in awe of the human form.

Final Benediction

So we close today’s sermon, not with “Amen,” but with awareness.

Awareness that your body has never given up on you — even when you gave up on it.
Awareness that you are already in a sacred place — your own skin.
Awareness that wisdom begins with understanding your own biology.

Praise be to our bodies! Hallelujah to our organs! And glory to the divine intelligence that lives in our cells!

This is the Church of Wisdom.
You are the temple.
Keep it holy

Amesiere vs Good Morning: Rising with the Sun or Mourning the Day?

Language is more than just a tool for communication; it is a window into the culture, worldview, and soul of a people. Among the Ibibio people of southern Nigeria, the word "Amesiere" serves as the traditional morning greeting. It translates to "You have risen"—a declaration of life, strength, and resilience. It’s a powerful acknowledgement that we are blessed to see another day, renewed and ready to embrace the opportunities it brings.

But over time, the word "Amesiere" began to fade from everyday speech, replaced by the imported phrase "Good Morning." On the surface, the phrase seems harmless—a simple way to greet someone. Yet, when we examine the words more closely, a question arises: What exactly are we mourning each morning?

From Sunrise to Mourning: A Colonial Perspective

The shift from "Amesiere" to "Good Morning" did not happen organically. It was the result of colonialism and the spread of Western culture through education and religion. Indigenous languages were labelled inferior, and European ways of speaking were promoted as "civilized." As Ibibio children learned to say "Good Morning," they unknowingly inherited a foreign lens through which to view their mornings.

In English, the word "morning" shares a troubling resemblance with "mourning," which means sorrow and grief. Though the two words differ in meaning, the homophone subconsciously creates a linguistic paradox: we are encouraged to start each day in a state of grieving rather than rising in joy and gratitude.

The Power of "Amesiere"

In Ibibio culture, sunrise symbolizes life, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness. When you greet someone with "Amesiere," you are not merely exchanging pleasantries; you are celebrating their vitality and spirit. You are saying: "You have risen with the sun, and today is a new chance to thrive."

This greeting reflects a worldview centred on optimism, community, and the sacredness of life. It places value on the natural rhythm of the universe—the rising and setting of the sun—as a gift to humanity.

Reclaiming Our Words, Reclaiming Ourselves

The world we live in today is shaped by the languages we speak. Words carry energy, and the way we greet each other sets the tone for how we navigate our daily lives. Returning to "Amesiere" is more than just preserving tradition; it is about reclaiming our identity and embracing the values that our ancestors held dear.

Imagine how different the day feels when it begins not with an unconscious acknowledgement of grief but with an empowering affirmation of life. Imagine a generation of Ibibio people—and Africans at large—who greet each other with words rooted in their own understanding of joy, renewal, and progress.

Let’s Rise Together

The next time someone asks you how to greet an Ibibio person in the morning, proudly teach them to say, "Amesiere." Explain its meaning, its depth, and its significance. Let this simple greeting remind us all of the beauty of starting each day with a celebration of life.

As the sun rises each morning, let us rise with it—not mourning what has passed but rejoicing in the gift of the new day.

Am Henry, and I say to you, Amesiere! May you always rise with strength and purpose.
