🚨🎙️ Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney debate Manchester United’s lack of signings this summer:
🗣️ Gary Neville:
“I’m getting a little concerned now.
Manchester United still haven’t signed anyone and pre-season is getting closer.
The Ederson deal is the one I keep hearing about, but £35-40 million? That feels excessive to me.
He’s a good player, but modern football has lost its mind with transfer fees.”
🗣️ Roy Keane:
“There we go again talking about prices.
If the manager wants him and he improves the team, get the deal done.
What worries me more is that United are standing still while other clubs are moving.
Every year it’s negotiations, delays and excuses.”
🗣️ Wayne Rooney:
“I see both sides.
Ederson is a good player, but I also think United need more than one signing.
You look at Matheus Fernandes, you look at Rafael Leão reportedly becoming available, these are the kinds of opportunities top clubs should be exploring.”
🗣️ Gary Neville:
“That’s exactly my point.
If Rafael Leão is genuinely available, Manchester United should at least be having that conversation.
Instead we’re still discussing whether to spend £40 million on one midfielder.”
🗣️ Roy Keane:
“The biggest issue is urgency.
The supporters don’t care about transfer meetings and negotiations.
They want players through the door.
The club knows what positions need strengthening, so why is it taking so long?”
🗣️ Wayne Rooney:
“Because if United leave it too late again, they’ll start the season playing catch-up.
The best teams do their business early.
United need to stop reacting and start acting.” {@WeAreTheOverlap }
Man Utd legend Nicky Butt urges Bruno Fernandes to sort out his row with Roy Keane face-to-face:
🗣️ “Whenever Roy says something, it’s going to go to the front pages. Bruno’s the Player of the Year, he’s responded and everyone has rubbed their hands and said: 'This is brilliant, it’s Man Utd, it’s Roy Keane & Bruno Fernandes, let’s blow this all up.
“It seems like Roy was misunderstood. I think it’s just got all bigged up. But I think the crazy thing is, why are players going back at pundits? It’s mad. I just don’t get it. What’s the gain? Whether it’s Roy Keane, Gary Neville, whoever, I don’t see why you'd go back at them. You’ve got to give an opinion, and Roy’s very honest, but he's controversial.
“Someone should tell Bruno to focus on his football, focus on the team, focus on us getting better for next season. Don’t react to pundits, don’t react to anybody, anywhere. If I was playing, I just wouldn’t be a***** with it. By the way, it’s different if you see him in the street.
“If you see him in the street, Roy lives five minutes away, Bruno lives five minutes away, you see them all the time. If you really want to see someone, none of this BS 'come round to my house'. You can walk past him in the village every day. I’m not saying go physical, go fighting, just say, ‘can I have a good chat with you?'"
▪️ Mason Mount continues to earn the trust of Man Utd managers not because of reputation alone, but because of the tactical value he brings whenever he is fit.
▪️ Offcourse his injuries have slowed his impact, but they haven’t changed how coaches view his importance to the system.
▪️Everyone is always surprised why Mason Mount do survive in every manager despite his unreliability due to injuries to answer that you need to understand this
▪️ From a tactical standpoint, Mount is one of the most flexible midfielders in the squad. He can operate as a No.8, drift into a No.10 role, or even function as a wide presser in different phases of play. That versatility makes him extremely useful in a team that often shifts structure depending on opposition demands.
▪️ His biggest strength is his work without the ball. Mount is relentless in pressing, intelligent in closing passing lanes, and disciplined in tracking runners. For managers who prioritise high-intensity football, that off-the-ball contribution is as valuable as goals or assists.
▪️ Even when he isn’t directly involved in attacking output, his presence improves the team’s shape. He helps connect midfield and attack, keeps the structure compact, and supports smoother transitions both defensively and offensively.
▪️ The continued trust from Manchester United managers comes down to football logic rather than sentiment. They see a player whose profile fits modern tactical demands perfectly the only challenge has been keeping him available long enough to fully unlock that impact.
▪️The way we see football game is different but thus what I think why Mason Mount always survives in every manager.
INEOS and Manchester United need to understand that elite midfielders are NEVER cheap in modern football.
🗞️Declan Rice cost over €100M. 🗞️Enzo Fernández cost over €120M. 🗞️Moisés Caicedo cost over €110M.
That is simply the market for top midfielders now.
✅If Elliot Anderson is truly United’s No.1 target like reports have suggested for months, then the club must be prepared to pay €100M+ because Nottingham Forest will not let him go easily.
✅The same applies to Sandro Tonali. These are the type of midfielders that instantly elevate the level of the team, not just “good potential” signings.
Yes, players like Carlos Baleba and Mateus Fernandes are very talented, but there’s a difference between talent and proven elite quality.
If United truly want to compete with Europe’s best again, they need at least ONE elite midfield signing this summer. #MUFC

Look.. if Ederson really is £35M (rising to £38M) on a £75,000 week salary *financially* it’s not a terrible deal.
Buy 2 other TOP midfielders and United fans (including myself) will feel a lot better about the deal.
INEOS have probably earned the right to be trusted overall.
