The Sunshine Feeler

Talking about retro games, and sometimes animation. All done personally by one guy.

New video tomorrow! It’s a really silly concept but I quite like this format for trivia.

Thank you all for watching the new video!

My next video is about a topic literally no one else but me would ever want to cover, but when you see what it is, you’ll wonder why no one else ever made a video about it. It’s about something I’m sure a lot of you are partially aware of from maybe hearing it offhandedly mentioned before, but no one has ever bothered to look more into. This picture may or may not be related.

UPDATE TO THE MYSTERIOUS CREATORS VIDEO:

Just a few days after I uploaded this video, a new interview with some of the developers behind Fantasy Zone came out to commemorate its 40th anniversary confirming that Yoko Kobayashi, character designer of Alex Kidd and Teddy Boy, also designed the character of Opa-Opa, meaning she designed two of Sega’s pre-Sonic the Hedgehog mascots.

Also, it’s confirmed what became of Masa Ikegami. According to Seiichi Satou, a fellow Namco designer who worked with him, during the development of a military themed shooting game called Cheyenne, Ikegami left to pursue his dream of crossing Africa by motorcycle, and when he came back to Japan, he quit Namco and disappeared, and Cheyenne was in the hands of Masanobu Endou, who turned it into Xevious.

Also, some corrections, Hiroshi Ono did not do art for Dig Dug by himself. The Dig Dug promotional art was drawn by Mayumi Akayama, and the enemies were designed by Atsuko Sugisaki.

Thanks to @mightm2 and @23Scadu for bringing this information to my attention in the comments!
