Good news! A build of the lost Famicom game Splatterworld was just released yesterday, the perfect time! I'm not planning on making a video about it, but I messed around with it a bit and it's clearly legit and really neat, though it seems to be a later build from the one in the footage we had. Still pretty neat stuff.
Also, it's not the only game I covered in that video that has been released since, as Soldam was also given a cartridge release (albeit on the NES instead of the Famicom) back in September. With City Connection licensing this, we may be one step closer to seeing a rerelease of Super Dog Booby! I haven't played Soldam, though, as I'm not shelling out the money for the repro cart, but it's still cool that it has released at all!
Hopefully, more of these games get found this year!
So because recording the Q&A video has been such a disaster, but I still want to answer your questions, I’ll be answering your Q&A questions in text under the original Q&A community post. Just a heads up!
Well, guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s very unlikely I’ll be able to do the Q&A video now. I had already recorded it, but I made the awful mistake of recording it all in one long take with no script and it’s just unsalvageable. I probably only formed coherent answers to maybe 15% of the questions. I’ve sat on it for a while trying to edit it into something watchable, but it just isn’t salvageable at all. So I’m thinking either I’ll just re-record it with a script, or just answer everyone’s questions on the post. It’s very unlikely I’ll be able to record a new one, though, as things going on or coming up in my life currently are making it very unlikely that I’ll have any time to dedicate to actually creating more than maybe 2 videos for the rest of the year. There’s so many steps to the process and some that I just probably won’t have any time for in the next few months.
I’ve also been questioning where I want to take the channel. I’m glad you all enjoy the video game Mysteries and Obscurities videos, as I really enjoy making them, but I feel as if the expectations that have been put on me making them are a little unrealistic. I won’t be able to just churn them out every week, and even if I was, the actual content of the videos would heavily suffer as I’d just be grasping for straws for topics to talk about. I’ve seen some people express that they feel I’m already doing that, like with the Soace Harrier segment in the last mysteries video.
That being said, while I was working on the Q&A, I was also working on 2 other videos, both of which were heavily themed around bland facts and trivia. I realized that I don’t want to go in that direction anymore. I just want to talk about stuff that’s interesting to me personally, and in one of those videos, most of what I was talking about just wasn’t interesting to me, and in the other one, I was too focused on “correcting narratives”, when really, I don’t want to engage in that kind of behavior anymore, because it’s not fair for me to call people out for that, as I’ve made loads of mistakes and errors myself.
Even if it’s not the Q&A video, as at this point, I really would rather answer everyone on the community post instead of with a video, I do want to release at least one more video by the end of the year. I’ll definitely try to support the Patreon with more stuff at least. In the meantime, I’ll take a break from constantly pumping out videos this year, and I’ll be thinking about the direction I want to take things. Hopefully things will return to normal and get back on track next year. Thank you all for your support and I hope you have a lovely day |)
Ask any questions you’d like to ask me and I’ll answer them in an upcoming video! Don’t feel bad if I don’t get to yours as it’s very unlikely that I’ll be able to answer everyone’s questions, but I’ll try to get to as many as I can!
Cut off date for questions is October 14th!
Also, just some suggestions you should probably take into account:
-If you’re going to ask multiple questions, keep it to a minimum of three. Only ask the ones you really wanna ask!
-Try not to ask questions that someone else has already asked. -Try not to ask questions that I’ve already answered in my previous Q&A from over a year ago (viewable here: https://youtu.be/-rp7SP_Wnhw?si=msTgQ... ) unless it’s the kind of question where my answer might change over time.
-This should be obvious, but refrain from asking questions about controversial real world things or overly personal questions.
Thank you all for watching and thank you so much for 10K subscribers! A new, unrelated video will be out tommorow!
Sorry for being late to talk about this, but thank you so much for getting me to 10K subscribers! Words can’t express how grateful I am knowing that that many people want to hear what I have to say about all the dumb things I talk about, so thank you all! My next video will just be a regular video, but I do plan on doing something to commemorate this after that.
What’s a common piece of misinformation about a game/gaming that gets on your nerves? I don’t just mean the basic kinds of easily disprovable myths like Sheng Long, or opinions you strongly disagree with, I mean commonly accepted “facts” that are incorrect. I’m mainly looking for stuff regarding things surrounding games and gaming history, but I’ll take a few suggestions regarding stuff in the games themselves.

Do you think I should remake some of my old videos? If so, which ones?
(They don't have to be just the ones in this picture, btw XD)

On average, how many mysteries do you want to see me cover in the Obscure Video Game Mysteries videos?
Also, check out the new video if you missed it: https://youtu.be/O9xJXLLxLus?si=Yk5yi...
