Is Wild Rift esports dead?
League of Legends' mobile spinoff didn't take off the way Riot might hope to be. Since their launch in 2020, the viewership numbers outside China have declined sharply. Their $2,000,000 prize pool of ICONS Global in 2022 only garnered over 50,000 peak viewers - a massive difference compared to its archrival, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Now, Riot is looking to empower grassroots tournaments and influencer-driven competitions across Asia Pacific, especially the Philippines and Vietnam.

The Malaysian MPL community was recently surprised by allegations of match-fixing in the ongoing MPL Malaysia Season 13.
Malaysian MPL organizers have announced that Bountee Esports were alleged of attempted match-fixing by an ex-player and aggressive behavior and conflict within the team, based on a statement released last April 14th.
