Last night I had a regular catch up with a member of the Safer Internet Project about his progress in both his day job, job applications and creating his own freelance consultancy.

What I thought would be just a continuation of what he was doing to complete the goals we had set together, quickly turned into an appreciation chat that made me so happy it urged me to share here with everyone.

To quote some of the words spoken;
“the resume you did for me last month has so far got me into two job interviews with one progressing through to a third and final interview, where as previously I wasn’t having any luck at all, so thanks David, your magic touch seems to have worked!”

“What you’re doing here at the safer Internet project is something that honestly, every industry should have, where people can shadow, practice and learn from real world cybersecurity and IT engagements to see if this is the right job for them. A lot of jobs I’ve had in the past have expected me to know exactly what to do from day one, and that’s exactly what SIP is showing people - quite literally exactly what the job is, how to do it, and how to practice as a team. I wish more people knew about SIP”.

It’s comments like this that keep me pushing forward and helping people out as much as I can to learn the job, gain ACTUAL work experience in the industry, and go into a job confident they have the knowledge to do what’s required of them.

Coming back to Australia for my cousins wedding was something I wouldn’t ever miss, and I’m super grateful to have been a part of all the celebrations - but now it’s go time baby!

The last few months have been extremely turbulent going between countries as well as hospital visits with my wife for our upcoming child, but now it’s time to lock in and get stuff done!
