1k subscribers! And just in the nick of time before the YouTube boycott, too :D

A huge thanks to all of you who have subscribed (both over the past few weeks and over the years!), and a special shout-out to (no joke) FLOWEY THE FLOWER for being the 1000th subscriber! (please don't hit me with friendliness pellets)

Will do my darndest to make more erhu goodness once YouTube hopefully fixes things with the AI age-verification, but in the meantime here's a quick look at my future project plans! (You can also see these plans over at @Erhu4All)

1️⃣ American Pie: for sure a big change from BIG SHOT, but after seeing how the lyrics of the song (sadly) line up with not only current events but ALSO one of the most famous erhu classics of all time, I couldn't resist adding this to the project list.

2️⃣ Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4: if you're craving more Deltarune covers no need to worry, I'm planning to do multiple! I'm definitely gonna do Hammer of Justice and Black Knife, but I need your suggestions to figure out a third one!

To help me figure out what the third Deltarune cover should be, I've put together a word cloud that we can all add to together!🥳

Hi erhu lovers! TLDR: there's a planned YouTube boycott starting August 13th, and I wanna do what little I can to help.



When I say "I hope you're well, wherever you are" at the end of Erhu4All videos, I want that motto to mean something. In case you haven't heard, YouTube is putting out an AI age verification system to restrict YouTube access for anyone it predicts to be under 18.


Considering
1. how poorly YouTube's other AI systems have worked in the past, and
2. that proving you are in fact over 18 will likely require uploading important legal documents to servers that
3. are very likely NOT intended to be used for holding that sort of sensitive information,


I agree with those who feel that this addition to YouTube is going to harm the cybersecurity of many, many people. Yes, cyberbullying, doxxing, and disregard for human dignity on the internet are very real issues, but uhhh...this age-verification system thingy ain't the solution to that.


Simply put, I feel that having government documents on a non-government server is an unnecessary risk to long-term well-being, and I wanna do my part in helping to avoid that.


I agree with the reasoning behind this boycott, so I've gone ahead and changed Erhu4All's and Erhu2All's profile pictures to custom versions of what is slowly becoming the main symbol of people's pushback against poorly implemented AI systems in general: Clippy📎! The trend was started by Louis Rossman (https://youtu.be/2_Dtmpe9qaQ?si=Mb5YP....


Since the core of Erhu4All is still sadly on YouTube, I don't know exactly how long I'll be able to help maintain the boycott (maybe 2-3 weeks?), but hopefully by the time my next project is ready for you all to see, the boycott will have led to some positive changes🤞

On a more serious note, welcome to all the new erhu lovers from the Big Shot cover!🥳 Really looking forward to doing all that I can to make more erhu stuff you all like, so comment down below what pieces you'd like to see in the future!

Also, currently working on a very different cover from Big Shot that should hopefully be done by the end of this month; much more of a serious tone, but emotionally valuable all the same🥲
