A super special video is in production: impact craters! I shot loads of impact footage at varying velocities and impactor angles, and I've compiled a fun montage below. Full treatments to follow in the next few weeks.
I did some animated bits a couple summers ago and am considering doing another. The show features a belligerent house plant named Potty. Vote for your favorite below.
I've got a fun and scary thermite reaction demonstration if you are interested. Excellent example of a highly exothermic single-replacement reaction. Enjoy!
I've got new stuff up! I just uploaded an unholy slew of reaction videos, for anyone interested in blowing crap up. I made these for my chemistry students- lucky them- and hope they are both fascinating and *illuminating.* I've created a large compilation (attached), but I also uploaded the reactions a la carte so you can watch just one by itself if you are into that sort of thing. Enjoy!
My complete treatment of the March 14 total lunar eclipse is finally here! I had to manually "smooth" each frame of the telephoto shot, which was tedious but I think worth it. You'll find a couple of hidden surprises in the video, including a naughty internal reflection in the GoPro pinhole lens, which has the pleasant effect of revealing the true (reverse) image of the moon while the fully exposed moon's shape was lost in glare. Enjoy!
A polished telephoto treatment of the March 14 total lunar eclipse is in the making. 🔭 Since I don't have a motorized mount that could track the moon as it passed through Earth's umbra, I had to take several short shots (15 minutes), compress them into shorter clips (3 seconds), then align each frame with a superimposed circular reference, which I will then remove for the final shot. Watch for the final render to drop sometime in the next week. 🌙
What am I working on now? This video has been on my need-to-do list for years and the frigid temps have made it much easier to prepare materials. Guesses?

I just cut a bunch of rocks! A lapidary saw is a fun and easy machine to use, and I've created some videos showing how this works. Enjoy!

Tired of boring old explosions that aren't dangerous enough? Here's one for you. Great example of a simple combination reaction. Enjoy!

Got some awesome glacier action going on for my next video. How many glacial features can you spot? I count at least 4 different ones.
