Hello you all! Please head over to my portfolio site and check out my latest paleo-geography reconstruction :)
Set in the Early Jurassic around the Late Pliensbachian ice-house, and the following climatic upheaval and extinction events of the Early Toarcian (the Pliensbachian-Toarcian boundary event, and the Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event). This project has been in the background for several months.
Maybe in the future I'll make a bigger video with this globe to demonstrate exactly what happened during the Toarcian events. We'll see. I just wanted to put this test video out there for now.
I have uploaded the "Prehistoric Cut" of The River Dragon on dailymotion. Seems to work. So if you don't want to download the edit then you can stream it via the links below.
If you missed the last post, then this is a re-edit of episode 2 of WWD2025 where I've removed the modern-day scenes (except the intro), tweaked the colour a bit and so on. There is also a narration-less version you can watch. I've now also removed the modern-day intro specifically in the narration-less version.
All right guys, I have actually made an edit of Walking With Dinosaurs 2025, believe it or not. Call it: the prehistoric cut.
It's a relatively simple edit in which I have removed all the modern-day paleontologist sequences (except for the intro) and try to string together the paleo-sequences as smoothly as possible; and so it sort of becomes a little bit more like the original WWD format. I think this makes for a less jerky experience overall, and I don't think the paleontologists provide that much information that the narrator doesn't repeat in the paleo sequences anyway so..
I have also tried to tame the color and contrast a bit, see the third image for comparison.
Now, I don't intend to make a "prehistoric cut" of the entire series any time soon, and so I figured that the featured episode for this experiment might as well be the most widely popular one: The River Dragon.
Note that the edit will NOT be uploaded to YouTube. You can download it for a limited time via the google drive link below. If you want to try and upload it to a different video-streaming site, then that's fine as far as I'm concerned.
As a bonus, there is also an alternative "no narrator" version of the edit you can download. The real one is called "WITH narrator".
This flying model of a half-sized Quetzalcoatlus from episode 2 of 'Lost Worlds, Vanished Lives' (1989) goes so much harder than any computer generated reconstruction of prehistoric life.

Capping off the year with yet another prehistoric map:
Australia during the Pleistocene ice age, an ancient land of bizarre Megafauna, as seen in the most recent season of Prehistoric Planet.
See you all in 2026, happy new year! : )
