Most brands don’t fail at exhibitions.
They fail before they enter them.
They treat exhibitions as:
• Visibility exercises
• Design showcases
• Footfall competitions
But exhibitions are none of these.
In Episode 7 of my podcast, I sat down with Ankit Pallan, an exhibition stall strategist, to explore a deeper question I’ve been thinking about for years:
Why do smart brands with big budgets still walk away from exhibitions with no real business impact?
The answer wasn’t design.
It wasn’t budget.
It was intent.
We spoke about why:
- Footfall is a comforting number—but a misleading one
- Beautiful stalls often distract instead of convert
- Stalls should be designed as behavioral systems, not structures
- ROI in exhibitions is a leadership decision, not a design outcome
One insight that stayed with me:
A stall is temporary in form, but permanent in the behavior it creates.
As hosts, our job isn’t to celebrate success stories.
It’s to interrogate assumptions the industry has normalized.
If you’re a founder, CXO, marketer, architect, or designer who invests in exhibitions or is planning to, this conversation will challenge how you think about space, strategy, and selling.
If exhibitions are part of your growth strategy, this episode will shift how you think before you spend another rupee.

I’m curious: What’s the one metric you’ve always trusted at exhibitions—but now feel unsure about?

A few years ago, Chetan Shah was lying in a hospital bed.
He wasn't just there for a check-up. He had survived a brain tumor. He was dealing with permanent hearing loss. He had a knee replaced. And then, the "medical wrecking ball" hit a massive heart attack that led to bypass surgery.
The world told him to retire. His body told him to quit.
But Chetan had a different plan.
He told me something in our podcast that gave me goosebumps:
"I didn't choose cycling. I was forced to become a rider because life punched me so hard I had to find a way to stand up."
Today, he’s not just "recovering." He’s an endurance beast.
- He’s cycled 112,000+ kilometers.
- He climbs 18,000ft peaks in Ladakh where oxygen is a luxury.
- And he does all of this while running a global IT company.
I asked him how he finds 3 hours to ride every single morning at 4 AM. His answer wasn't about time management or productivity hacks.
If you’re feeling burnt out, if you’re struggling with your health, or if you’ve forgotten what it feels like to have a "fire" inside you—you need to hear Chetan’s voice.
He is proof that your scars aren't just reminders of where you were hurt. They are the roadmap to where you are going.
