One of my longtime viewers, Kayedence, reached out to me asking if I would share her GoFundMe, and I wanted to pass it along to this community.

She is a single mother, a full-time college student studying Medical Billing and Coding, and she says she and her son are currently facing homelessness after a very difficult period involving illness, hospitalization, housing instability, and difficulty finding steady employment.

What struck me most about her message is that despite everything happening, she has continued with school and maintained a 4.0 GPA. She is working toward completing her degree and has larger plans to continue her education in Library and Information Science and archival studies, with a particular interest in Black American history and genealogy.

Right now, though, she says she and her son need immediate help keeping a roof over their heads.

She has created a GoFundMe and is adding documentation about her circumstances there. If you are in a position to help, please take a look. Even if you cannot donate, sharing the fundraiser may help it reach someone who can.

Fun Stuff! First, a picture of my cat!

Welcome to all my new subscribers! I posted a couple weeks ago that YouTube has this feature where you can tag products. Sometimes it does it automatically and sometimes I add the manually, but a lot of the fun products are super expensive brands so I wanted to direct you to a couple of other things on my Amazon list.

When you see me in my videos, I’m wearing a full face of makeup plus a subtle filter. So basically, I try to make myself look as though I have a professional makeup artist doing my makeup—even though I don’t. Odds are on any given day there are two main products I’m wearing. They are much more affordable than other products although even for these, the prices have gone up recently because as you know, these corporations are price gouging us on all of their stuff! Ugh. But they are often on sale on Amazon.

I’ve tried a bunch of different types of foundation but because all of my extra money is going into my media business, I am always looking for affordable products that do the job.

Pat this tinted serum on with a sponge for a serum “foundation”-type of look and use a small fluffy brush to apply a small powder where needed.

Quick note about the little product links you may have started seeing on some of my videos.

Apparently, YouTube has a product-tagging feature, and I recently discovered that it had been automatically enabled and is identifying and tagging some of the things I mention in my videos. I genuinely did not realize it was doing that.

Now that I know the feature exists, I’m going to be a little more intentional about using it.

Most of the time, if I tag something, it will be a book. I talk about a LOT of books around here, and I’m constantly recommending things I’ve read, used for research, or think would be useful if you want to dig deeper into a subject.

Every once in a while, I may tag something else I genuinely like, use, or think you might enjoy. Maybe something useful. Maybe something weird. Maybe something fun.

But realistically?

It’s going to be books.

So many books.

Consider the product shelf underneath my videos an extension of the bibliography, with the occasional shiny object thrown in for fun.
