The Muslim community has its head so far in the sand. The internet will become the greatest source of apostasy in the coming 20-50 years. Many critical historical questions previously swept under the prayer rug will eventually cause serious problems for the upcoming generations.

If you think Hadith scepticism is the worst of it then you have a horrible awakening ahead.

As someone who genuinely works to answer those important and difficult questions in a historical and principled way, I sometimes despair with the Muslim community at large.

Conspiracy theories and wilful ignorance about serious topics can only be dismissed for so long

Your children have access to apps and online forums that you wouldn't even be able to imagine. They are asking questions that would horrify many of you.

This internet roulette is a blessing and a curse. The sooner we embrace criticism, critical thinking and uncomfortable historical realities - the better.

Good luck

Islam is political. It was never meant to be a political program or institution.

Political Islam was a reactionary and necessary counterweight to colonial subjugation after the Ottoman fall.

Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ never left a political establishment nor did he leave a political program behind. The Qur'an does not furnish a political plan or guide.

Political Islam, as we know it - was innovated in the early 20th century.

I will explain better in the following post. In the meantime, I am inviting anyone who disagrees with the following premises

1. Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ did not leave a political establishment
2. The Qur'an does not mandate or prescribe a political regime/program
3. Islam as a system and faith based ideology "became politicised" out of circumstance, not by it's core principles

Hi guys ๐Ÿ‘‹

I come in peace ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Looks like Spain is about to be re-reconquered. Sultan Boabdil has had the last laugh after all those years.

We have to ask a fundamental question. If the Muslim world is so great, why are 60000 Muslims risking their lives and leaving everything behind at a drop of a hat to start all over again in a third rate economy such as Spain?

That's 60000 potential tax contributions and labour resources being lost by the Moroccan economy overnight. Is the Hijrah narrative misinterpreted? At a time when Muslim influencers are on the Hijrah hype, there are mass waves of Muslims flocking to the West with nothing more than the clothes on their back and hopes for a better future.

What can be so great about a society where the citizens are ready to abandon ship at the slightest hint of an exit?

It's provocative, but think above the emotions. If the West is so terrible for us Muslims, then why haven't the 60000 received the memo yet?

Ps. The Liberal Left is literally ruining Western civilisation. This is controlled demolition, there is a method to this madness

Amazing times to be alive

MYTH BUSTERS ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ‘ป

I'm still getting responses and reactions to my last video on the @AdabBookClub and the previous community post on this channel. Great engagement, but try not to be emotionally triggered ๐Ÿ‘

I would actually love to post a follow up video however I have to fix my garden this afternoon, so you will just have to settle for this post....

NO. We didn't create the First universities and al-Qayrawiyyin wasn't the first university in the world. I cringe anytime I hear this baseless and ahistorical lie being used as defence.

That's a complete myth and also demonstrates how some of us can read words on a page without much comprehension.

The Guinness World record and the UNESCO listing mention Qayrawiyyin as the "Oldest serving university, still issuing degrees", but nowhere have they claimed it was the FIRST.

If you can find any mention of it having been the FIRST university in history, on the UNESCO or Guiness World Records page, then let me know and I will apologise publicly.

The reality is that there were much earlier centers of learning and this claim by Muslims is nothing less than a case of Anachronism and revisionism.

Fatimah Fihriyyah never issued any a single degree nor did she enroll a single student into what was actually a "JAMIA MASJID" (a communal Grande Mosque where Friday prayers were held).

Yes, it is indeed the oldest ACTIVE university still good, but not the FIRST. We cannot conflate the two things (although they are not mutually exclusive in strict logical terms).

A quick Google will clarify this.

Fatimah actually built a MASJID, and it was later converted into a school which eventually became a university. She never intended it to be a school/university at all, although it eventually evolved into a Madrassa and much later was "rebranded" as a university, the concept and language for which comes directly from the Latin "Universitas".

The FIRST establishment built and established as a "University" proper (from day one), was the university of Bologna.

Qayrawiyyin is recognised as the oldest (still active) institute of higher learning, but it's not the First.

Don't take these posts as an attack.

I am simply shining a light in dark places and challenging your preconceived ideas. If you must be upset, then be upset at those who have been teaching you a watered down and fantasy version of your history. Because how did it get to the point where most of us actually believe in this clearly false historical narrative without actually verifying it against the facts.

If you can be fooled and mislead about such simple historical elements, what else have you been tricked into believing about your past ๐Ÿค”

I am doing you a tremendous favour with these posts, so take it as an opportunity to learn new things and explore new angles.

Ps. The 'House of Wisdom" is a HOAX, it wasn't what is being portrayed.. not even close to it. This imaginary House was literally written and forced into our history by a group of 19th century Arab Nationalists, who were looking for past glories with which to compete against the West and reassure themselves that "we did it first"

GLORIFIED SECRETARIES

I am about to trigger you, again. Be patient ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ™

Have you ever heard the statement

"we (Muslims) translated the Greek works for the West. Without us, they wouldn't have had the Renaissance"

Sure.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

But let us assume that this was viable (for a second). Even then, that claim simply makes us 'middlemen" as best. The Greeks are still Europeans and their descendants are still ahead of us in APPLYING that ancient wisdom.

What use are these translations is we didn't apply or benefit from their teachings?

Since we are going to boast about translations, here's a better one

The Qur'an was first transcribed and printed in Venice (Italy) by Paganino and Alessandro Paganini (between August 1537 and August 1538), using a German invention by Johannes Gutenberg.

Since then, the Qur'an and various Hadith collections have been printed and benefit the Ummah tremendously.

However, the Germans and French have even restored many other manuscripts and made them accessible to us. The single most authoritative dictionary on the Arabic language (in translation) was compiled by a German (Hans Wehr), to this day - there isn't a single translation produced by Muslims that can come near the Hans Wehr copy.

So if translating ancient Greek texts should be the reason why Muslims paved the way for Western development, then inventing the printing press is more than enough proof that the West has benefitted the world of Islam equally as much as we have benefitted the West.

We have helped them and they have returned the favour ๐Ÿ˜‰. We can all stop boasting now.

Are you sufficiently triggered yet ??

If we are honest. We all know that merely translating texts doesn't account for the great Inventions and advancements of a civilisation, if it did - then the Muslims would be world leaders to this day.

We need to get over this, it happened in the 10th century, we are now in the 21st century. A thousand years have elapsed and we are still hanging onto old glories.

As for the claim - that at least, we are going to be better off in the next life...

That's another weak and pathetic response. Sorry.

Everyone believes they will go to paradise when they die. How does that have any bearing on the topic of societal development and technological advance?

Why don't we try to be successful in this world AND in the next? why this false dichotomy, as if the only way to enter heaven is to be behind in the worldly sense?

To the contrary.

Islam does NOT teach us to be losers in the world or to remain in a pathetic state because "at least we will go to heaven".

What if you don't go to heaven? Then you would have lost twice!! Is that comforting or reassuring??
At least try to attain excellence in the world and strive for excellence in what is to come.

Heaven isn't a consolation prize for those who failed to achieve their full potential on earth, heaven is not a loser's last refuge. Paradise is actually a reward for a life well lived. A life of excellence and hard work. It is a medal for champions, not a participation badge for underachievers.

The Qur'an itself teaches us to strive for excellence in both realms. Excellent is to be pursued at all times

(See image gallery for exact quote)

Finally.
If these posts aren't making you think beyond your comfort zone, then it's not doing what was intended (or perhaps you are already on the same page)

You are supposed to be offended by these takes, or at least just a little. This channel isn't here to play to our comforts or to reinforce a false sense of victimhood.

I believe the Muslims are both capable and competent in developing their own societies without competing in the victimhood Olympics. We have and we still can become leaders in development, but it begins with a change in attitude and perceptions about who we are.

The West shouldn't be the reason why Muslims comfort themselves with under development and perpetual victimhood. We are 2 billion strong, with those numbers - no excuse should be possible.

Aim higher.

Sometimes I wonder, what if Continental Europe had converted to Islam before Christianity??

Can you imagine how far Islamicate influence and it's cultural imprint would have reached by now?

What if instead of Latin, Arabic was the basis for culture and literary output from the West?

The West is an awesome civilisation, if we are being honest - it's perhaps the most powerful in human history. Their systems, laws and intellectual foundations have enabled them to pierce the heavens, construct all sorts of terrific machinations.

I will trigger a few people with what I am about to say, but perhaps we cover our envy of the West and it's civilisational achievements by constantly pointing to it's mistakes and transgressions without ever acknowledging it's success. After all, which human empire was completely ethical and humane?

In any case, prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ had foretold the ongoing struggles that Islam would have with the Western civilisation, comparing it to two rambs at loggerheads...sometimes victory is with one and sometimes with the other

Roman (Western) civilisation shall remain until the end times when Jesus himself is prophecised to return and prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ also told us that Roman culture will be the dominant global force.

So much to think about...

Can you image a world where Ishaaq Newton al-Britaani establishes the laws of physics based on his study of the Qur'an and Sunnah, or a world where Napoleon al-Franssy conquers vast territories fee SabilillAh.

We may not always admire their fierce ambition to dominate and exploit their adversaries, however we cannot overlook the wonders of the Western civilization.

You know, even Muslims gather from all over the world to discuss "Ummatic" projects, the language that unites them is English and not Arabic Urdu or Farsi. The Muslim world league itself relies on the English language.

A lot for us to ponder over and contemplate. To Allah belongs the dominion, He grants it to whom he Wills and deprives it from whom he Wills

In any case. Western Muslims occupy a unique and urgent opportunity. Perhaps we should be more serious about realising this potential rather than wasting the chance to leverage the unique situation we are in. Our predecessors could only have dreamt of having such a presence in Continent Europe, they would have achieved a lot more than we are seeing today

The Islamic Enlightenment

The Muslim world is 500 years behind Western scholarship and development for the following reasons

Islamic civilisation peaked way too early in its history. Muslim Enlightenment was between the 9th-11th century CE...

Ever since then, we have been reliving the glories of the past without seeking to push boundaries and create our own original contributions towards science, culture and material progress.

Western Model = Imitate to better Innovate today
Islamic Model = Imitate and preserve past glory

Rather than writing another lengthy think piece on this medium, I have just recorded a video essay. Click on the image below ๐Ÿ‘‡
