*CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF INSPECTION OF NAVAL DOCKYARD LIMITED AND COMMISSIONING OF PROJECTS*

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla visited the Naval Dockyard Limited (NDL), Lagos on Tuesday 28 May 2024. During the visit, he inspected the facilities and preparations for the forthcoming Nigerian Navy (NN) 68th Anniversary Celebration to be hosted by NDL. The CNS also commissioned some projects undertaken by the Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard (ASND), Rear Admiral Abolaji Orederu.

Notably, the CNS inspected;
- The NDL Conference Hall
- The Exhibition Tent
- The Construction site for Seaward Defence Boats (SDB) 4 & 5.

The CNS also commissioned
- The renovated General Manager Sea Training (GMST) Block.
- The Electroplating Plant.
- The Galvanising Plant.
- The newly constructed elevator for NDL Conference Hall.
- The NDL Gallery
- The remodelled Administrative Block.
- The Upgraded NDL Officers Mess.
- The NDL Sports Complex.

The CNS commended the ASND & the NN 68th Anniversary Organising Committee for their good work and enjoined them not to rest on their oars.

On 1 June 1956, the NDF commenced operation with 11 assorted ships and craft inherited from the erstwhile colonial Marine Department of the RN. On 1 May 1958, the NDF was legally established as a force and re-designated Royal Nigerian Navy. The prefix 'Royal' was a mark of allegiance to the Queen of England.

Process of joining the Nigeria Navy.

First, you will have to purchase the form when it is out and cyber cafe charges only 1500 or 2000 maximum to register it and print them for you.

The following are required:
NIN
BVN
Birth certificate or age declaration
State /local government of origin.
Primary school certificate/testimonial
SSCE result ( WAEC, NECO OR GCE )
Passport
18 to 22 years for SSCE candidate

18 to 26 years for Ond, NCE and drivers candidate.

NB: you can use ND, NCE and driving license if you have.
Those applying for driver's department are the ones using driving license.

Secondly, after successful registration of the form,names will be shortlisted 2 weeks after the stipulated date of expiration.
Then,a date will be pass along with it on when you guys will be writing the Exam.
Note: pls do not put Benin city Edo State as your Exam center,it is not among the Navy accredited Exam center.

You can put any of the following state ;
Abuja
Lagos
Delta
Kogi
Kwara
Portharcourt
Kaduna
Kano etc.

After writing the Exam, another names of 200 candidate will be shortlisted out of 3000 and above that wrote the Exam.
At this point after writing the Exam, you have to be prayerful.
Those 200 candidate shortlisted per state,will be the ones going for medical screening in any of the following state ;
Portharcourt
Lagos and Kaduna.

South south and south east are doing their medical screening in portharcourt.

North West and East are doing theirs in Kaduna. While

South west and north central are doing theirs in Lagos.

Thirdly, after the medical screening,3 weeks after, names will be shortlisted for training and which involves 35 persons per State while text message will be sent to some persons.
