My dear friends,For more than the past 4 decades, I have been dedicated to students, teachers, and educational reforms. It has always been my firm belief that a strong, inclusive, and visionary education system is the bedrock of a powerful nation.I deeply respect the aspirations, emotions, and justified expectations of the youth of our country. Bringing the dreams of India's younger generation to fruition has been the moral resolve of our political and social life. I express my gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for his visionary leadership and for granting me the opportunity to serve the nation.However, irregularities were found in the NEET-UG examination held on May 3, 2026. Taking immediate note of this, the Government of India handed over the investigation to the CBI, cancelled the exam, and announced a re-examination. Along with this, a decision was taken to conduct this examination in CBT (Computer-based-test) mode from the coming year.During this period, our primary focus remained on smoothly organizing the examination for more than 20 lakh students, which was executed using a 'whole of government' approach. In this, the state governments, especially the district administrations, played a crucial role. With the cooperation of the students, students' unions, guardians, and parents, the re-examination was successfully completed on June 21, 2026.From day one, I took responsibility for this situation and did not turn my back on it. It was my firm resolve that no bright student's potential should be ruined due to the exam mafia, and no injustice should be done to any student.On July 16, the announced NEET-PG results brought satisfactory outcomes and success to several hardworking students coming from poor backgrounds.However, during this period, individuals sitting in responsible positions attempted to mislead the students and create obstacles, which deeply pained me.I have always maintained immense faith in the power of democracy, and I have consistently respected the aspirations, dreams, expectations, and challenges of the youth. They are not just the future of India, but are also the torchbearers, builders, and architects of a new and developed India.Looking at the chain of events over the past 10 days, my heart is deeply pained. This is now no longer a matter of my personal reputation.The youth power of India is the true strength of this country.The youth of the nation will not fall into the illusionary traps of deceit; this is my firm resolve.Anti-national forces should not take advantage of the situation that has arisen at Jantar Mantar and across the nation. The unity of the nation must remain intact. The future of even a single student of India should not get entangled in legal complexities. Our children should focus on their studies and career building. Thinking along these lines, I have sent my resignation to the Honorable Prime Minister.I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for his guidance, trust, and continuous support. Along with this, I express my gratitude to all my respected colleagues in the Council of Ministers, officials and employees of the ministry, and all those individuals with whom I had the privilege of working.
