Welcome to 2026, Dear Community!

We are glad to announce to you the kick-off of Part 3 of our Swánga̱lyiatwuki-WikiWoordenboek Joint Wiktionary Editing project, beginning January 10, 2026! (w.wiki/HESc)

This project is being jointly organized by the Wiktionary team of Wikimedia Nederland and the Tyap Wikimedians User Group (TWU) to edit each other's language in the other's Wiktionary, using English as an interface.

Words of Tyap [kcg] origin would be added to the WikiWoordenboek, and those of Dutch [nl] origin would be added to the Swánga̱lyiatwuki.

To begin with, we shall be holding a virtual meeting,

TWU END-OF-THE-YEAR MEETUP 2025
To all those who made it to our annual meet-up today, Saturday, 20th November 2025, thank you all for coming!

We had three categories of prizes given to the top three participants in our:
- Wikidata's 13th birthday data-a-thon
- Mentor Me!
- Tyap Wiki Bootcamp (Season 2)
events.

But before that, we had our 10th Community Meeting (w.wiki/H5iD), and we highlighted areas where our members could participate in the Wikimedia Movement, as well as the programs we had done since the 9th Community Meeting (w.wiki/EyHm) and those that are coming in 2026! We had a fun time together afterwards and said goodbye for the year. We resume activities in January 2025!!!

About the Program
The Nigeria National Funding Program is a national initiative established to support, coordinate, and strengthen community-led programs and strategic initiatives that advance open knowledge, innovation, and sustainable impact across Nigeria. The program emphasizes transparency, inclusivity, and effective stewardship of resources.

Key responsibilities
1. To support the Nigerian National Funding Initiative for productive committee work, including:
- Sustaining committee operations, roles, and principles for major processes such as proposal review and decision making.
- Supporting communications with new, important movement bodies such as regional hubs and campaign organizers.
- Sharing expertise and context within and between committees to build needed capacities.
2. To routinely support the National Coordinator, applicants, and grantees by:
- Sharing knowledge, expertise, and regional context throughout the grants process.
- Identifying opportunities to address community needs around resourcing, representation, and power sharing.
- Making decisions on proposals supporting the region.
3. Committee members must understand and value diversity, including cultural, linguistic, and gender differences.

Who can apply?
- Members of the Wikimedia community in Nigeria (both newcomers and experienced contributors welcome)
- Volunteer members of Wikimedia affiliates based in Nigeria.

Who is not eligible?
- Anyone receiving compensation as a staff member through a Wikimedia affiliate or User Group in Nigeria
- Staff connected to projects funded by the Wikimedia Foundation within allied organizations in Nigeria.
