Are you unmotivated? Or just bored?
This morning I finished my walking warmup on the treadmill and just stood there. I needed to run 3 miles but I couldn’t find the motivation to restart the treadmill.
I stood there contemplating my options and decided to just call it quits. No run for the day.
But as soon as I stepped off the treadmill daylight from a nearby window caught my eye. It was light enough outside for me to run! I gathered my phone and headphones, jetted up the stairs and was out the door in a matter of minutes. Finished 3.21 miles in 31:26, a 9:48 min/mile pace.
Sometimes it’s not that we’re lazy or unmotivated, we’re just bored and need to switch it up. After a full winter of mostly treadmill running the idea of fresh air running was all I needed to get my head back in the game and finish my workout.
Next time you feel the blahs and can’t find the energy to push through, try switching up your routine or environment. It may make all the difference.

What do you do when you don’t “have to?”
It’s spring break and we’re on a cruise. And while I don’t “have to” get up at 6am to workout I still do. Why?
Discipline. It’s led to a new mindset and a new lifestyle. So now instead of sleeping in I wake up excited to hit the gym, no matter where I wake up.
When you don’t “have to” but do it anyway is where you’ll find success.
(Can you believe I used to HATE mirrors and cameras? Now a mirror hates to see me coming 😆)

😭 What will finally be your breaking point?
Ironically I was on a cruise and just leaving the gym in both photos. I was so sad in the first photo and the camera captured it.
Little did I know the following month I would make a decision to LIVE that would change my life. I would go on to lose 70 lbs in 9 months, have a tummy tuck and run a marathon. Little did I know the next time I took a picture on a cruise ship, just two short years later, I’d be all smiles.
